Well I saw a website with Javascript menus and they worked fine in every browser, but Opera.

Opera can do many things other browsers can't though. And I'm not talking about non-browser-related features.

Usually this is because the website is either

a) not sending opera the javascript

b) using an old javascript script

this thread is ridiculous. How can someone possibly pick a browser engine that doesn't display things correctly based on the standards? I don't care if Opera is "faster", (which it isn't) if it doesn't display things the way they should be based on the standards then it's a terrible engine. Also, it's important to mention, duh IE will start faster...the damn thing is built into the explorer interface, obviously it's going to open faster.

In your first post you make this confusing, the thread topic is "browser engine" but then you go and ask what the "best browser" is in your first post. Damn it, make up your mind. Netscape is onto the right idea with it's support of both the gecko engine and the IE engine based on the users preferences. This isn't a solution because the IE engine is still flawed and based too much on ActiveX, but it's a temporary solution until MS (just for example) starts making standards compliant pages.

Oh my.

Opera has bugs that cause certain things to not display properly.

Firefox has bugs that cause certain things to not display properly.

This has nothing to do with not supporting standards.

Firefox is the best. Its considered the most secure by many groups and supports W3C standards. Firefox has about 6 known security flaws, while IE has 19+. Firefox also has a very simple interface which is great for most people. I dont know of any big drawbacks other than lack of ActiveX support (disputed insecurity), and support of some proprietary microsoft standards that are also possible insecure like dhtml.

did any one check out on Avant Browser???? It is the best because:

Top 10 reasons to use Avant Browser:

1)Flash Animation Filter: More than 85% of all flash animation on web pages is advertising. These flash files are pretty large, and normally take up to 90% of the size of the page you're visiting. With Avant Browser you can save this bandwidth by blocking the download of these flash files with just one easy click.
