Chrissssssss
You wouldn't be able to see, you wouldn't exist. You couldn't do anything, nothing would ever happen. You're not there. You wouldn't "see" blackness cos that would involve some recognition of the blackness by you

We CAN say that at this moment in time 'this' event occured.. and we can repeat that over and over again to see if it occurs at other times as well... but we can NEVER say that something will always occur or has always occured. Tesseract
This is why it is difficult for me to grasp this concept. I cannnot remember anything before 4 years of age, but that does not mean that I did not exist. You may have a past life, but you would not remember it. You may have a future life, but you would not remember this one. I kinda believe in reincarnation, but I believe in afterlife more so than that. I just cannot believe or grasp "nonexistance," because it is too hard to imagine. I know that someone will say that just because something is too difficult to imagine does not mean that it does not exist, but I just don't think that once you die, you're just gone and you will never exist again either in another life or the afterlife. Nothing is what you see out of your ear. You don't see anything. Just like being blind... seeing nothing, not blackness. It's hard to imagine something we have been familiar with most of our lives (vision).

Its just a "hobby" but I dont believe in it (but, honestly, I like some of the stanic ideas, I mean, real satanic, not like that fanatism in TV) I repeat: I DONT BELIEVE IN THIS, so dont call me satanic :D

Chrissssssss
Seeing involves your eyes, involves signals travelling along to your brain. Seeing black is just having no light entering your eyes. Seeing nothing would be not having eyes, not having the part of your brain that deals with visual stuff. Not a thing that anyone can really grasp without being in that situation

Tesseract
I hope that I am not sounding like an idiot by asking all of these questions about "nothingness," but I guess it would be like trying to breathe in space; there is no air to breathe. Or it would be like dreaming: you are not seeing out of you eyes, but you are seeing what the brain is "projecting" to you. Anyway, it just seems very hard to grasp. Thinking about this hurts my head, though, if I do so for a long period of time. If you do not mind, let me reformat the question: Do you believe in God, and if you do, what kind of "afterlife" do you believe in?

yg17
my family is Jewish and I was raised tought the Jewish religion, but personally, I'm athiest and when someone asks me what religion I am, I say "none" Honestly, I wish religion didn't exist. It has caused so many problems, countless wars, the holocaust, suicide bombings in Israel, and played a big part in Sept. 11. As for afterlife, I think that once you die, you just don't exist. Your body is buried or cremated or whatever, but your soul doesn't live on or anything. Like before you were born, you simply don't exist.
