Hey we never said that jesus never existed!

I believe that a man called Jesus existed who influenced the lives of the people he touched, but i do not believe he was the son of god, nor that god exists, nor that the universe was created by god. I believe Jesus was simply a remarkable man of his time, but nothing more than that, a man.

The statement was that if one existed (Jesus) then the other (God) couldn't exist. So either God exists and Jesus didn't, or vice versa (as if that makes any sense).

I agree with you on the second part, except that I believe in a "God".

Some religions believe in absolute pre-destiny, other is a sorts of pre-destiny, and others not at all.

For a spin on the Christian version of destiny, where we are supposed to know what will happen in the end times, I think that was is revealed in Revelations and other parts of the Bible is simply what would have happened, or could happen, if certain events or whatever took place or continued to happen. I don't believe however that our lives are already scripted out for us, that's just silly... :paranoid:

uhm... just for the reference. i was baptised (or howeverthef00k it's spelt) and then the second thing. confirmation (would be the direct translation from swedish, dunno if it's correct).

BUT only because it was family traditions. if i ever get kids i won't do that to them... they'll have to decide themselves (and i hope they remain atheists...)

Very well said and i agree 100%. Jesus was a man...human like you and me. Remarkable yes, son of god ? No. Does god exist ? I dont think so. I believe the very concept of god is man made, as are all religions. I find the idea that there is a higher being supposedly who shapes and guides us preposterous, not to mention disturbing. I am responsible for myself, my own choices and actions, not some figment of mankinds imagination. Christianity, to me is a fear factory. It is designed to cause fear, doubt and uncertainty. It promises solutions, salvation, etc... truth be known, it is nothing more than hysteria and speculation.

I dont want to live my life serving that which does not exist. What kind of existance is that ? To me, that is simply living a lie.....

Very well said. It's same that I belive also! Beside religious consumes massive amouth of money and resources and beside, all those funky popes and priests. They work for nonexistence purpose and stuff.

Think world without religious.. We could be colonizating other planets if religious wouldnt have hold back research and science!

funniest to me are people's argument AGAINST atheism "better to believe in god than a big bang cuz what if he is real"...

i was a 'christian' for some time when i was little and read the bible through like 5 or 6 times completely. my understanding is that if your belief is marked like that above then you aren't a real believer anyway. how can one make themselves believe in a god. all the stories are so far fetched and not only that...they all defy human nature. you can't look at someone of the opposite sex with 'lust'...you can't do this you can't do that. obviously this was just a way to keep the ancient people with their naive minds under control. a 'law code' so to speak. amazing to me is how long the hoax has lasted. most of the people here believe in 'god' so it still goes on. even while we are in the technology age. why doesn't everyone just stop and think how ridiculous it is...walking on water, raising from the dead, the list goes on and on.

oh well, just a FEW of my thoughts.

also...as stated above. it's a horrible way to waste a life believing in something like that. why can't people focus more on this life and helping others and their communities and not focus on getting their self 'prepped' for an afterlife which doesn't exist.

AND, if you ask me if there WAS a 'god' why does he have to give us an afterlife anyway. what would be the purpose? that's nothing more than a figment of human imagination and their wish that they could live longer and fear of death. they want to live forever, so they lie to themselves until they believe they are going to 'heaven' when they die. little do they know that they only get to praise 'god' when they get there (which they won't of course but if they could that's how the story reads). humans are always greedy. they have to be so greedy that one life isn't enough for them. then they turn around and waste that life worried so friggen much about the next one. i'll live my life now like it is and i'll try to make contributions to others and the world that i live in. this world that we live in is real. it is absolute. it may not be here tomorrow b/c of some catastrophe, but for now it's here. and for now i'm going to do what i can to make it a better place and not worry about what i'm gonna do after i die. maybe if they weren't so intent on heaven they could come with w/ a scientific way to make us live forever ;)

Look I have nothing agaisnt people who wish to believe in higher orders or gods, my theory is thats why the bible etc was made, gives people something to believe in, defines differences between good and evil, right and wrong, and as such many laws in todays society come from the bible, so it was a pivotal point in history, obviously.

But personally I dont like to dispense my faith in something that I rationalise so easily.

I do not pretend to be able to prove that there is no God. I equally cannot prove that Satan is a fiction. The Christian god may exist; so may the gods of Olympus, or of ancient Egypt, or of Babylon. But no one of these hypotheses is more probable than any other: they lie outside the region of even probable knowledge, and therefore there is no reason to consider any of them.

If there is a God, atheism must strike Him as less of an insult than religion.

first of all i believe in God and that there is no God except Allah,

second do u beleive in air?

if yes how then altought u dont see Air ?

besides if we see that our father was born to our grandpa then our grandpa to our grandpa ,then until we reach we will reach to Adam and where did Adam come from? Allah created him. right?

third there is reserucction ofcourse and there is judgment day ,

how can we all be equal and there is people who hurt others and other people who are good people who are kind to others,.... ?

sure there must be after life where we all placed for judgment and the good people will have the paradise and the bad people will go to hell..
