altezza Veteran Posted October 7, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 7, 2001 The ntloader file may have been overwritten. Try to run Windows XP or 2000 setup and have them repaired if necessary.
redvamp128
It will still load into Win 2000 and Win XP it is just his windows Me is the problem...it does not want to load...NTLOADER is fine ...Me has lost its registry ...
altezza Veteran Posted October 8, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2001 Why bother install ME? :) WinXP has all ME functions and yet more stable than Win2k :D Anyway, perhaps you can try the hard way by modifying boot.ini file (it's risky). redvamp128
THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE WIN 2000 or THE WIN XP... the problem is that the hive is destroyed in win ME...have tried Scandregwiz.
nXP_151 Veteran Posted October 8, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2001 I think it may have overwrite the boot sector.
mortensen
Last time I tried to dual boot it fecked up my operating system and I haven't tried since. Dual booting is a bit of a mess at the moment... I'm sure it could be simplified more than it currently is.
PabUK Veteran Posted October 8, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2001 Dual booting is actually simple and I have set it up about 6 times without any problems. Once it is set up it is easy to manually configure as well.
nXP_151 Veteran Posted October 9, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 9, 2001 If you're gonna do Win98/ME with Win2K/XP install Win98/ME first.
redvamp128
but what appears to have happend was that someone...booted it into win me and then shut the computer down while it was not finished booting and wiped out the registry...and the hive files
altezza Veteran Posted October 9, 2001 Veteran Share Posted October 9, 2001 What a strange problem you have ;) Try to install Win2k or WinXP then install WinME and see if it works. This based on my logical thinking :D
