How do you know if you need to replace your computer

Recommended Posts

OK... here's a little something to spark your creativity, and that is the question of "How do you know if you need to replace your computer." To start you guys off, here are some:

1. When the parts to fix that computer aren't available anymore.

2. When nothing can run on the computer anymore.

3. When your computer is slower than the school's slowest computers.

don't get me started about compaqs.. I went thru hell ..

we bought 4 compaqs about 2-3 years ago, and they are terrible..

replaced them with HPs and no problems yet ..

on a side note, my personal comp is built using various components from various vendors ...

from my experience

personal comps I tend to replace them every 2-3 years.

whereas business comps are replaced when their efficiency is decreased (ie: run programs much slower)

which means 3-4 years.

(it's really all relative to the users)

ahk, HP Pavillions are terrible! Who loads a celeron 400mhz with an onboard graphicscard?!?!?! My pc barely runs, without having to compute the graphics as well!

You know you need to replace your computer, when you get lines running accross your screen whenever your computer thinks hard.

The HPs I have are fine, the harddrives are excellent. No apparent problems as of now ;-) I'm sorry to hear about that.

I agree I would never buy pre-built computers, but given that I bought those computers in a third-world country, and you can only trust pre-built computers sent from overseas ;-) I had no other choice.. oh well

I like vaios, but ever since my mom got one, I sort of associate them with girls hahahaha...

actually I've been looking lately at this new toshiba, but it's TOO DAMN HEAVY!!! (laptop)

I do selective upgrades every other year regardless. I haven't built a completely new system for myself in over 6 years (eg. build a comp where ALL the perts were new). I'm still using the same floppy drive that I bought 6 years ago, same case too. (modded)

All other parts have been replaced over time, but never all at once.

Dunno. Right now my system has been gradually upgraded to stay high-end. Except for the CPUs, I still run a dual P3-933. I already maybe plans to keep it till spring 2003 (yes it will be hard) to buy a dual Hammer.

Anormal: if u still type in "win" to enter windows

lol :D

i still remember when i use win3.1

anyway i'll replace my computer:

1. if my computer is too slow

2. if my friends got faster computer than me

3. if i blew up the processor chip (overclocking)

Heres a reason i know mine needs to be upgraded...i can BARELY run the newest version of Windows, heh. When it gets to the point where u cant ever run the newest OS, u NEED a new comp, heh.

I upgrade my system when the tech. has increased in speed etc. at a substantial level meaning about every year to year and a half I build a new system keeping some parts. I have only had one pre built manufactured system and that was a compaq when I was about 17 years old. I am now 29 and have built them on my own ever since.
