tiger2k
i was looking at a bestbuy catalog and on the sale of a HP computer i saw what they had on the monitor... you can't really tell on my scanned photo (old scanner) but the IE toolbars look like the IE for mac toolbar so does the the EI logo. what is that all about? and if you don't belive me, just go down to your local bestbuy and ask for the April 7, 2002 catalog (if they still have one)

StOnD
That system tray alone is enough to turn me away from buying a computer from HP. I hate how the OEMs have been putting all that crap on their systems lately, and it's only going to get worse. That's why I haven't bought a menufatured system in so long, and I always recommend the manufacturers that kludge up their systems the least, but manufacturers that install just the OS and maybe a few QUALITY bundled progs (like MS Office) are getting hard to find... :disappoin And that can't be IE, when have you ever seen an IE window with a scroll bar like that? It's probably a fake (forged) window or something. The buttons look like it but otherwise it looks like MS word with the toolbars taken out. Tim Dorr Veteran Posted April 13, 2002 Veteran Share Posted April 13, 2002 it's just something some graphics guy put together for HP so they'd have something to show on their montiors. probably just a photoshopping of a bunch of random screenshots... He should be fired :D Why make a fake Internet Explorer window (those are the Mac versions of the toolbar icons, but it's not the Mac version of IE obviously) and use a Windows 9x taskbar (just plain ugly). I've noticed this screenshot in a couple of different ads, and not just from Best Buy. I think I've seen it in a Walmart ad... :s
