In spite of this he was essentially "rewarded" and made a mod over the very section of the site that he used for breaking copyright and where at first keldyn said that he should be banned and timdorr spoke up against his illegality now we see a complete reverse of attitudes by keldyn and in essence his statement that iconman should be let off with a slap on the wrist because he said he was sorry.

Am I missing something here?

Yes I agree 100% Wickedkitten.. I was unaware of this yea? so I will be having a lil chat with him later. It's not in Neowins interests to moderate what he does OFF SITE but if it effects his position here on the boards it becomes a matter for us admins yes..

AGAIN tho I have to stress that this could of been resolved alot quicker via a PM or report to admin..

Oh forgive me grayhaze, the link above is a search of all your posts.. and it seems you fall into a minority of whiners..

why? Your posts are mostly complaints since you signed up here on Neowin.. but.. not once has this admin or mods received an official complaint from you that someone ripped you off here at Neowin.

Go figure

Well surely the fact that a new member has only had cause to complain should be something of an eye-opener for you. Take a look on other community sites. I very rarely have cause to make a complaint on those sites because I am treated with the respect that any member should be.

I never made an official complaint because, by all accounts, in doing so I would have gained absolutely nothing. With the amount of activity buzzing around rips on these forums, it shouldn't even need someone reporting them to moderators. That's what moderators are for: they moderate. That is, they read the threads they are supposed to be moderating, and take the appropriate action. Simply saying 'we didn't know' isn't any kind of defense. It's your site, so keep it clean.

As for being in a minority of 'whiners', if you consider observation and debate to be whining, you shouldn't be running a public forum in the first place. I'm not alone in my opinions on these matters, as has been very clearly demonstrated, but perhaps I am in the minority that has the confidence to speak out.

That may be so, and i was quite harsh in my attitudes towards Iconman to begin with, but atleast i am mature enough to know when to let it go. I have forgiven him. He has explained his actions, apologised and is no longer pursuing the same practises that landed him in trouble to begin with. Perhaps i am just a little more forgiving than yourself but i am not going to flame the guy for the rest of his life for a mistake that he made. He has learnt from it and its time to move on. Just let the guy go already.

It's a wonder that he hasn't when you see the mods attitudes toward copyright infringement so far, surely if you looked at the threads that you so eagerly searched for you'd notice that every thread he posted on had either to do with his copyright being infringed upon or william bart's copyright being infringed on.

If it turns out that there is a problem with a member of staff, then staff/admin will deal with it. I dont think it is necessary to continually bring up what he has supposedly done wrong here. He will be spoken to im sure, but keep in mind that neowin is not responsible for what its members do outside of neowin.

Its obvious you signed up to plead with a member that had stolen your design. It seems you wasnt smart enough to email the site admin too, just maybe we may help you.

You decided that all by yourself did you? ;)

In case you didnt notice, you are NOT helping, you participate in the bad quality of the posts by NOT using the "Report this post to a moderator" link or emailing mods or admin when posts are made that clearly violate your copyright or artwork.

You are a whiner because you can openly whine and start threads about a problem, yet you fail to go to the root of the problem or a resolve. Whining I can do too but I try to RESOLVE things that bother me.

I have no idea where complaints posts go that are reported but in the future if something like this happens I will just directly email. It's not in Neowins interest to moderate what he does off site but he is using your site to aid him in it then it becomes a neowin issue.

You use the report post feature and i can promise you that within atleast 20 or so minutes there will be mods on the offending post. Rather than flaming people on the boards for their behavior, show some initiative, make use of the feature, and spare us all these pointless disputes

So are you telling us that if we report every post to you that is breaching copyright law, you'll move to stop the activities? Hang on, I'll be back in a couple of hours with several hundred 'post reports'. It must be great to have other people do your job for you.
