How do you like to study?

Recommended Posts

Man... I hated school! I dont think I ever studied for a test, unless it was the final exam. Of course that may be the reason I got bad grades!

yeah Vinh, i know what you mean. Sometimes after 5 minutes at home trying to study i find myself doing the same thing, thinking about anything else. Anybody know a good way of staying focused?

I only studied for two tests in high school and uni. But from what I have heard and read was you need to setup a system. That includes an enviroment to help you focus. Studying on your bed is bad, because you assocate sleeping with your bed. Some need a little background noise to help them focus, were as others need absolute quiet. This is something you need to find out. Also the location would matter too. you may find it best to be in a very bright room or just enough light to read. Whatever you find is best for you, you need to try to stick that enviroment from what i have read.

Personally, I prefer my college library. The atmosphere is almost perfectly quiet, except for the faint sound of people typing on laptops or flipping through a book. The environment is very...academic. I "feel the need" to study in a library.

studying for tests?

if you have two hands, put a book in one, and a glass of Baileys on the rocks in the other.

if you only have one hand, just go for the Baileys.

People who say they daydream.. I used to do that, until I found out that you have to study for 1/2 hour - 1 hour in order for your mind and body to adapt to study mode. The more you study however, the lower the time is.

If you want to go to college or university, start studying about 3 hours a night every night in high school. Otherwise you end up taking 6 years to finish a 4 year degree like me. Seriously, if your friends call you a geek or whatever, punch them in the mouth - they are full of ****.

any person in school who studies

generallly revolves around this word

"Procrastination"

happens to all of us

we cant help it

but statistics say u absorb best in the morning at 5 am - 7 am period time

and also u tend to study beter if u wernt studying as in locking ur self in a room and study

u study best when ur working as well

say u work as a check out person and u have study notes there beside u while ur working have a glance at them

keep repeating

then u tend to absorb some of the contents in

Graduated 2 years ago from undergrad...I would read my textbooks. I could not take notes, my handwriting was unreadable...

I just read every book. From beginning to end...

If I knew the classes I was going to be taking in the fall or spring, I would go to the uni professor, ask what book they were using, buy the book off of amazon or Barnes & Noble, read the book entirely, then kick back and relax... It worked! Straight A's mostly, a few F's because I failed to attend some classes (too much beer and my FRAT Kappa Sig..)

I play music while I study.

Vinh, I am quite impressed. You are only 12 years old and yet you have knowledge about computer much more than a lot of my friends that's majoring in computer science.

whoops forgot to answer the topic

-i generally write down defintions/formulae (depends on the subject).

i grab my highlighter, highlight the main ideas or words,

then read the sentences a few times thinking about the words, instead of just "reading the words" im actually thinking about the words.

it sounds pretty stupid/obvious, but it works for me.

-no music, i study hard and im not too bad in school.

hope that helps.

I had what for me was a great system.

A. I had all my Main notes or anythjing of relevance in a folder which id read over leading upto a test or "The Tests"

and id sit down and just write everything I could find that weas important down on a sheet or sheets of paper and do that till I knew definitions and concepts off by heart.

Then again I never used palm cards in school, for the hundred speeches they make you do. I always managed to remember them, even the 8 minute speech we had to do in english. I tell you no palm cards lets you really make a much better speech, and you can just sit back and watch the marks go up and up.

However if you do a half ass job of it you can just watch the marks go down and down. Anyway I just say that because I think I had a pretty good memory, but I think if anyone just sits down and writes down concwepts main points etc, you can really nail the stuff.

Also Essays, I cant stress it enough, have some sort of format you follow with writing your essays, god that will help you sooooo much. A well structured essay with a nice intro and boom your rolling in the money marks
