Can you solve this.?

Two men are sitting and start eating the bread they brought. MAN A brought 5 loaves while MAN B brought 3 loaves. A third man MAN C

walks passed them. They invite him to eat with them. They all ate the bread and when they were finished, MAN C stood up and gave them

8 pieces of gold, for the bread. He then left. The two men (MAN A & MAN B) started fighting as to how much each man should get from the

8 pieces of gold. MAN A said he should get 5 pieces and MAN B should get 3 pieces because thats the amount of bread each one

brought. MAN B said that they should share the gold (4 pieces each) because everyone ate the same amount. They went to a judge and

viewed thier case....the judge told MAN B to take the 3 pieces because at least MAN A was willing to give him 3 pieces of the gold. MAN

B was angry and said that he wants what was RIGHTFULLY due to him.

How much is RIGHTFULLY due to MAN A and to MAN B???

hmm...i dunno

i do know they didn't eat the same ammount because 8 does not divide by 3...

also, you probably wouldn't sue a friend over 8 pieces of gold :D

I think man B should get 1/3 piece of gold if thats possible. otherwise I don't know. Hurry up and pm me or post the answer though it will drive me crazy.

hmmm...

They all ate the same (8/3)loaf or 2.666r

A gave away (7/3)loaf or 2.333r

B gave away (1/3)loaf or 0.333r

C paid 8g for (8/3)loaf so 1g = (1/3)loaf

Hence:

A should get 7g and B gets 1g.

Thankyou. :)

Rightfully Man A and Man B should each get 4 gold pieces. Because both of them invited Man C to share the bread with them, there was no contract or anything like that to buy the bread. On the same note, Man C gave both of them 8 gold pieces to distribute among themselves. Therefore the "right" thing would be to split the gold evenly, regardless of the bread.

I don't follow...

Adam bought 5 pieces. Brian bought 3. They were then effectively paid G8 for the bread. Right? It seems completely obvious that Adam should get G5 and Brian should get G3. I can't see it any way other than Brian is a petty git who wants more than he deserves. Could someone explain the tricky part of this to me?

timdorr - the Gold might have been massive gold bars. I'd sue over that. I'd also invite Man C to eat with me a lot. Anyway, you can divide 8 by 3 as each loaf can be split into whatever size they wanted. But who sits down and eats 2 2/3 loaves of bread?? :s

Okay so far ONLY ONE person has been right......

No not gold bars... MAN C just contributed to what he ate. He didnt say "share these gold pieces" as well.

yeah you get it all ... buy some beer and drink yourself to a stand still.........

THE ANSWER IS MAN A gets 7 & MAN B gets 1 (thats fair)......This is taken from an incident that really happened.

Each man eats the same.

8 loaves of bread divided by 3. (8/3)or (2:2/3)

Man A started with 5 eats 2:2/3 gives away 2:1/3 (7/3)

Man B started with 3 eats 2:2/3 gives away 1/3 (1/3)

So the 8/3 for Mr C is made up of 7/3 from A and 1/3 from B.

lol wish I had of thought of comming on here and posing riddles to get my homework done :p

So you trying to tell me a court awareded Man A with 7 and Man B with 1? Thats not fair nor just, no court in the world with Base it off a mathematical equation like that.

man D (me) walks in, clubs everyone and takes home the 8 "BIG" pieces of gold.

answer: neither of them gets any

seriously though, there's loopholes in the riddle. if not being too picky I think I would go with Yashiro's 2nd answer. (think the first he was thinking ratio-wise, hence one of the loophole of the not so wisely phrased riddle)
