how to remove standby option in xp

Recommended Posts

i'm looking for a registry tweak that will let me remove the icon and option for standby?

it shows it when you go to shut down your pc.

i don't use it nor do i use hibernation and i was wanting to remove it.

if anyone knows of a registry tweak that would remove it ,it would be great if you could post it or a link to it.

thanks.

To get rid of the Hibernation one

goto control panel

power options

hibernate

unmark the "enable hibernation"

as for the standby option

you can probably disble to option

BUT wont be able to remove it showing up on the Tunoff popup thing

cause its built in to the .dll which holds the bmps of it (cant remeber which one)

youd have to make that part of the bmp translucnent - but it would still be there hidden.

I think.....

Try playing around with the Group Policy, something might turn up. Please not Group Policy is only available in Xp Pro editions Start -> Run -> gpedit.msc
