are you applying for college?

because as you must know already, you need your OACs to go to university. Their are several entrance scholarships that are offered by the college/university once you apply there and for most of them you don't need any applications. However, there are many more that are offered based on your acadamic achievements as well as community services. For those you need to check your guidance office regularly and do some research on the net.

Use yahoo.ca and search for scholarships. One of the best sites for scholaship search is www.scholashipscanada.ca (sign up and use the search to find scholarships :) )

Another famous scholarship called "millenium scholarship" is good to apply for (I got $4,000/year :D )...the website add is www.millenniumscholarships.ca

I hope this helps, pm me if you need any other info. :D

P.S: Sorry for the typos, its 2:00 am and wrote all this from what I remember from last year...

u only need OAC's in Ontario, if hes in BC he needs 4 provincially examinable courses, Quebec he needs CEGEP and i think the rest of the country just asks for grade 12

Most Universities and colleges in Canada offer scholarships to students with high averages I wouldn't doubt you would qualify for some scholarship money given you have an 88% + average. Don't be disappointed if you don't think you get "enough money". My point is that there is always some genius who has a 98% average and gets a $30 K scholarship. Any money helps pay for school - particularly university - I know. Take whatever you can.

If you don't get a scholarship, or you don't feel you getting enough money, see your guidance counselor. They know of many scholarship funds that go unused or are not well known that you may quailfy for. If you still don't qualify - there's still hope. Many universities and colleges offer bursaries and scholarships to students based on acedemic performance during the school year. Some of them depend on your financial status and parent's income BTW. Keep those grades up. You may or may not have to apply for them as well during the school year.

I'm not trying to let you down. On the contrary, many just don't know all the options available.

yo don't need a 90 plus average 2 get a scolarship

all u need is to demisnstrate that you have community and school involvment. People with mid 70's get scolarships all the time....

the only thing is that they are not huge ones.....perhasp 1k or 2k.....but if you apply for a whole bunch of them and get actualy get a few...then they can really add up!!
