I just realized that Theatre Arts class in my school suck because they pile loads of work on you and the credit counts as an academic credit (4 point scale). Yesterday, my teachr handed out a worksheet, which took me two hours to complete. This is because the book was crudely written and contains evasive information (in other words, it goes from applying the rouge, and then applying another item in one paragraph). I have never had such frustration in my life when it comes to doing homework. So, I write my teacher an email about how bad the book and the worksheet is. When I went to class today, the teacher threatened to cut my computer accounts off, write me up, and send me to Saturday detention for misuse of computer systems (I sent the complaint to his work email address). I was about to reply that I have the first amendment to criticize the book with and that he should research about it, but I held myself back from doing so. Who's wrong? Answer the poll and justify your answer.

You have a right to critize.... even I get ****ed when my math book doesn't explain things right (which happens alot)... but still I keep my mouth shut anyways, because I know the teacher will get mad and give me detentions or take away privilges or something.

In school since I am kinda a hot head ready to "voice my opinions and feelings" if a teacher yells at me for something that I belived was ok I always remember.... Teacher = Always right... Student = Obey teachers orders and remarks or a detention will always be the reslut.

I have to agree with shockz. I say you should be able to critize but in school you basically have no rights. Sorry but I'd just shut up and give up.

If you don't mind going thru the hassle of "being right"

then

1. take it to upper management

2. teacher will hate u, might fail u

3. if she fails u, then take it to management again

4. could become serious, parents involved

5. etc..

The teacher would'nt have "messed ya up" like that unless...

there must be more to your story.

Oh crap i voted for Student cos i thought the question was "Who's right?"

You're right, go to administration, get further opinions, do whatever just dont let the teachers win! lol

I believe real education comes in when a student finds his own answer... I know that when a student fail, it is believe that it's because of the teacher... but the rewarding goes in the effort for researching for real answers.. not from what the teacher can teach... that's how I view education...

I agree but....

Thats what I did in 4th grade. The principal talked to her, gave her a warning... then the teacher got a ****y about it afterthat, and if i did a little thing like forget to answer 1 question on my paper then she would give me a complete zero on the paper. Usualy she would just ingnore it with somebody else or say she just didn't notice when I asked why she didn't punish anybody else. It was like that for the rest of the entire year. Any lilttle error I did on a paper would be like a huge problem for her and she would take ALOT of points off. If i asked to go to the bathroom... her reply "NO!", asked to get a drink "NO", with other ppl she would let them but since I complained about her she had that grudge forever.

Then I told her that I would go report her again... but she told me that the stuff she was doing was prefectly alowed... and the truth is it was. In the school conduct book it basicaly says that a teacher has disgression to give a zero on a paper if a single problem is not compeleted. They usualy don't do this... but she did. It also says that teachers also reserve the right to decline a students request to allow him/her to go to a bathroom, if the time is inconvient, or too many people are using it. bla, bla bla....

So thats why I just learned to keep my mouth shut.

But yeah... i would report it if you wanna risk having a hard time with this teacher for the rest of the year. But since theres like only 2 months left then i guess it isn't that big of a deal ;)

Well anyways... that was 7 years ago... so i really don't care anymore. But if i saw her driving or in a store or something then I would flick her off or something like that. lol
