Arpit
Is there a way that I can listen to mp3 songs stored somewhere on a different computer?? for example....I have a collection at home, and I want to listen to the songs while I'm in my computer lab at school...is that a possibility, through some 'online player' of some sort?? Roger H. Veteran Posted April 19, 2002 Veteran Share Posted April 19, 2002 you don't need no special "player" to do that. The first thing you gotta do is make your PC accessible from a remote location and share the folders (eg. school) and if it already is then log in and use the local media player (simple as start, run, "mplayer2" click ok) and then click file, then open, then browse or just type in the location (your IP and location on your PC) of the song name and it'll stream from you PC say you got DSL or something faster. If you got XP bring your XP disk with you and use remote desktop to contro your PC and play music from there, once again you gotta set up your home PC first and you gotta have privillages to install stuff at your school. To get remote desktop from da disc then just put it in and let it autorun then click "perform additional tasks" and it's the first one on the next menu screen. You'll still need to know your home IP so make sure you get that and set up your PC correctly.
