mortensen
Sorry to be so rude but I've just seen the police brutality at G7 of police attacking protestors viciously (attacking peoples faces with batons) and even riding straight into them with police motorbikes. I'm not sure how old the footage is, but it's just on the news. Whatever. The fact that America treats protestors like that is SICK! I'm all for prevention but they can't just put out a high police presence and hide from the bad decisions that they are making. WAKE UP YOU STUPID PRICKS! No wonder the rest of the world HATES America. This is a grudge against American policing and not against the average American. I don't care what other people think about this, this is not the way to police the world. You cannot just suppress the people like that. I know the protestors can be violent, and often gangs travel from all round the world, but they should be arrested peacefully.... NOT treated worse than you can treat ANY animal. Seriously, animals get better treatment! I also hate the UK government here as well but with the situation in Ireland I'm sick of what people are doing to the police and am sick of the criminals! Irish people throwing nail-bombs at school children because they are a different religion - RELIGION DOES NOT MATTER THAT MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
ToastGodSupreme
Haha, we have nothing on the Chinese Riot Police. Those ****ers are ruthless. :) And for good reason. They're all trained in Jujitsu and take **** from no one. They take ANY form of touching them, even a pat on the back, or WHATEVER, as a threat and will subdue your ass in no time. :) Edit: My bad. I meant Japanese. And they're also trained in some form of Aikido too... I think.
username
If you don't like it then leave buddy. This is coming from a guy who posts marolin manson pics on his sig. A guy who has to add shock and controversy to get attention to his music because without that he would have nothing. I don't know what your problem is, sure there are some bad cops, there are bad people also. Don't be anti police, without them, our society would not exist. hurting101
I think that's what riot police have to do. If they smile and try and peacefully arrest thousands of angry people from a mod it might not go over so well. Showing you're more powerful than the mob works better. But I have to agree, they are harsh. I saw this thing on RealTV where this mother and her children were caught in the middle of a riot on vacation and the police wouldn't let them by :s And I saw this other one where a police man was shooting at this running guy's feet as he was trying to escape (real bullets) in Mexico or something. And the police don't get charged for doing stuff like this either. Most of the time. PS - I don't think the subject of this post is good at all. sedative
this is just stupid, you're trying to start a flame war. it's a totally bad subject saying "usa = sick pricks". how would you like it if i started a thread titled "UK = TOOTHLESS F UCKERS" which was all about how i don't like prince charles or something.. ps - it's marilyn manson, not marolin
Shifty
the problem is that the US has to make an example to everyone that they are not to be ****ed with. This way they hope to scare possible criminals. I do agree that there are many cases that they use excessive force... *cough*Rodney King*cough* there are other countries where the police are a bunch sissy girls. im japanese and i have witnessed in japan a bosozoku (man with loud car) slap a cop in the face and walked away as the other cops where calmy talking to the jackarse who slapped the cop. rediculous!! i want to be a badass cop in japan and kick the crap out of some criminal that hits me. seriously though, US cops can be WAY too excessive when it comes to large crowds. i think its to intimidate the rest of the crowd and also really bad training and tactics. username
They have to show force and set the tone. Have any of you seen when a crowd gets out of hand and a riot starts (college campuses, after hockey games) once the chaos starts they can't stop it. They have to set the tone early. StimpyX
So by the stance of your argument, UK Police are not violent, like say http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/uk/newsid...6000/446777.stm or http://www.urban75.com/Rave/busted.html or how about http://www.urban75.org/mayday01/003.html And these are just off the first page I received from a search on Google (and look, not one Irish insurgent involved). If you have a problem with police violence, then fine, but please don't foist upon Americans the idea that only our cops enjoy swinging a club around. You're probably not aware of this chap, but virtually every great artist in history is seen as shocking during their own lifetime. They allow their mind to be think in new ways. It only seems shocking because you are not used to it. So please, don't bash it just because it makes you uncomfortable.
username
It does not make me feel uncomfortable. I actually thought that one song (beautiful people) was kind of catchy. I don?t like any artists who have to step outside of the art of making music and spark controversy to get attention. If the music is controversial, that?s fine, but when other actions are used, I don?t like it.

Binary
well police beatings are wrong in any situation, but like someone above said, are they just supposed to stand there when people are trying to hurt them? If they did that they would be the ones getting severely injured. Lets not have the US police turn into our meek and mild police (canada) ;) we need your police to protect us too! :D
mortensen
So by the stance of your argument, UK Police are not violentNo, you missed my point. I think the US police were very violent in this particular case. I was in noway saying the rest of the world (or the UK) is better, just that this American thing is the latest police brutality to spring to mind. I don't actually like the UK in the slightest as it is going to hell in my opinion... just like the rest of the world. Money, banks and lawyers are taking over, and this is a BAD thing.Plus, why is Marilyn Manson so bad? So many people REFUSE to listen to his music purely because of who he is, without even listening to it. His music was on the soundtrack (and ending titles) of The Matrix and that song is really good. He has now done the music for Resident Evil and anyone that's seen the film will agree that his piece for the theme of the movie is very atmospheric and very good. Personally I think that more violent policing is NOT needed but instead they need to build more prisons to cater for all the criminals out there. They should not be left out on the streets because it is too expensive to build new prisons. In the UK people are just let to go free because of the lacking prison system here. Not only that but people are getting out of jail on technicalities when it can be PROVED that they commited the crimes. Don't just flame me 'cos I'm criticising the police.... think of a constructive arguement or ways of improving the current system. EDIT: well police beatings are wrong in any situation, but like someone above said, are they just supposed to stand there when people are trying to hurt them? I know... it is wrong and that's why people should come up with a BETTER way of policing instead of just saying that they can't be passive because they are bad people. Deryck
Well, the police have to vindicate their stance and message to individuals. I share your thoughts where authority can go too far and it is something that we frown upon. It is also how some people see it as, one may see it as a required resistance, some see it as a beating, inall the police has a job of protecting the public and to rectify crime and violence. I have seen some examples of Americans as being quite violent thus I can see why the authorities there take it within a differing way.
