OS: Windows 2000 Advanced Server

Version: 5.0.2195 Service Pack 2 Build 2195

Uptime: 2 days 1hr 37mins 20secs and counting.

Windows 2000 is so sweet on the uptime. Almost a 99.95% in most reviews. Very little rebooting and the resource management is amazing.

I'd have had a longer uptime but I had to reboot for repair (software issue.)

System Specs:

AMD Duron 850MHz

MSI 6380 Pro2-RU Mobo

512MBs (256 x 2) PC2100 DDR

Main Drive: Maxtor 7200 ATA133 60GB

Secondary Drive: Maxtor 7200 ATA100 40GB

Adaptec 2940 SCSI (See Trim Box Below)

SB Audigy Platinum Internal

Antec SO-635 Case w/ 4 80mm Fans, 1 cyclone PCI fan

Antec Jet Cool 1.5GHz CPU Fan

SCSI Trim Box: Fujitsu M26525 1.5GB 5400

Seagate ST434004 2.5GB 5400 (x2)

Yes, these are old SCSI but heck... I got them free and I've beaten them to death and they still hum like a charm :)

I plan to add another 1.5GB Fujitsu and an internal 8GB Seagate SCSI in the future and RAID two 20GB 7200 IDE's. All of which I've got sitting around taking up space. Bleh, never let good hardware collect dust.

.I'm not sure about the exact amount of time, but our server at work, a Windows NT 4 system, was up and running for over 6 months until today... when I upgraded it to Windows 2000 Server (finally!).

I usually everage 90 - 100 days between reboots (because of upgrades/updates). The only other times I shut them down are for cleaning or moving.

I tried to boot into 98 the other day, and I had forgotten what a nightmare 9.x really is. I pulled out that HD, booted back into nice, sturdy XP, and apologized to the machine for soiling it's hardware with that inferior OS :D

uptime atm is a mere 5 hours

use standby, if your pc is configured correctely, the only fan you should here is the power supply one.

try hibernation too. it'll wake up your system in half the time usually then it takes for a full startup.
