ontherock Posted November 19, 2004 Share Posted November 19, 2004 I'm getting this constant pop-up ads everytime I open my AIM Buddylist window for a few seconds. Is there any way to disable that? I'm using Firefox as my default browser and it blocks pop-ups but I don't think it blocks those coming from AIM. Do I need to delete any AIM reg keys to get rid off the pop ups? mistical Posted November 19, 2004 Share Posted November 19, 2004 You must be running something along with AIM, or have spyware/malware, or a AIM virus. Because AIM does not have any popups except for the aim today window... which you can block from even popping up. Also, when asked to install AIM, you should always uncheck the games support and weatherbug, I doubt this would be causing what you have but check on how to get rid of those if you may of by accident. I don't personally use AIM 5.9, but if you use it, that might be it as well, but I doubt it as I have not heard of something like this by anyone else. So uninstall anything you may be using with AIM, something like smileycentral, would be an example, not sure if that would be a problem with popups, but I was just using it as an example as I said. I used the older version of AIM but it kept asking me for an update/upgrade to the latest version. I think I unchecked not to be asked but it kept asking anyway.
