Drink!

Recommended Posts

What I cant get about the American Government system, is that at 20 years old, u can have a family and get married, drive a car, own a home, but you cant drink!

Somethings gotta be wrong with that.....Driving is far more dangerous than drinking.

IMHO, Sex at 16 (if applicable), Drinking at 17 and Driving at 19. Most 16 year olds need to mature a hell of a lot. Its easier getting hold of drink than a car. So by the time they are 19 they can think streight and be more mature.

Just my 2 cents.

god bless america... lol. i agree but it is still risky if a 16 year old gets drinks, and it is a crime for someone over 21 to give them some.

but in combination it's almost asking to get killed.

you're the same age as me (our birthdays are actually a few weeks apart), so I can understand where you're coming from. But I don't feel that me and the rest of my friends are quite near the age of being able to handle this stuff with complete responsibilty. I personally think the driving age is borderline to what it should be with how I've seen a lot of kids drive... Kids are just immature and there's not much we can do about it...

Basically, I say let them drive at 5 and drink at 6. That'll at least help to bring over-population down... and the funueral industry will get a boost... :p :p

This is one of those "who the hell knows" situations. I learned how to drive at 13 and had my license at 14 (well a hardship license). I was drinking from about age 15 (mainly stuff like guinness). We won't go into when I started having sex, let's just say early, but I got married at 22. So I started early on alot of things, but I think I've always had a handle on things, as far as moderation and playing it safe.

However having been younger not all that long ago and almost at the mid-twenties, I do know that most people under the age of 25 (even 30 for that matter) aren't that mature.

It may suck but I think we as a nation (meaning the US) needs to come down harder on underage drinking, and drinking and driving for that matter. We have all these laws against smoking (of any kind ;) ), but our drinking laws are actually rather relaxed and not often enforced. Maybe built-in breathalizers for automobiles or something... I really don't have an answer.

My wife's younger sister had a friend that died in a car accident, he and the other driver were both drunk (or at the very least under the influence). The other driver lived, but had a hairline fracture on his skull and broke both his legs. They both were under 18.

IMO a big part of the problem is that parents shelter their kids from drinking, in that they are so hard nosed about it and aren't willing to calmly discuss it. Most kids won't talk to their parents about it because they are afraid their parents will chastise them or scold them or accuse them of drinking, even if they only wanted to learn more about it.

At the very least younger people who drink, and even older people, should learn how to drink and what their limits on. An example would be to eat while you drink, and know that the thickness of your blood, weight, height, and other physical items play a big factor. I won't lie, I got wasted alot in high school and college, but it definately was not cool or fun the next morning... and believe it or not, women don't generally like beer breath.

Damn that was long... I'm so full of it, just gotta let it out sometimes :D
