buzzgum
This is weird. Some guy found the GPS of my server using my website IP address. I'm really curious to how he did that. Can someone email me or post telling me the steps on how he did it? I'm just amazed! Thanks a lot. I hope to hear from one of you! -Dennis dennis@[remove]digitaldennis.net
Glowstick
What you mean with GPS? The geographical position? Identifying it by an IP? LOL Not possible. Except if you got a domain name regged onto your address (home or company, whatever), then they just need to poll some satelite picture servers a la Terraserver, which even accept street names, and spit out the position of it. There are also DNSLOC entries, they're rarely filled.
Glowstick
32.65N 97.13W is your location, using MS Mappoint! :D
spanky
By the way GPS = Global Positioning System ...and I think Tom may be refering to lat. and long. As far as I know you can not definitively pinpoint a location from an IP. ...Routers and gateways often have their location published so one can get a general idea of ones geographical location based on which network segment you are on. Glowstick
The lat + long i posted are his home anyway. Not the server. If I'd have put the address of the hosting company, I'd have gotten the coords of the company. Address lookup on Mappoint works for US only tho. So I'm halfway safe :D
