UKer
Back on topic, I'de never let my kids smoke as my parents let me smoke and it didn't do me any good (I haven't smoked since I was 20). As for drink, I'de let them once they're 16 - in moderation - and once thir 18 they can as I'de prefer them drinking to taking any type of drug. Weed has made one of my friends absolutly crazy, and it does sometime lead to other things as they think "if one illegal drug is ok others are", but not all the time, I just wouldn't risk it. Ruciz
If I had kids as long as they were educated and could support their habbits I would let them do it, well I wouldn't be happy but if thats what made them happy and they knew the conquences of their actions fine. I think its a very valuable lesson to learn, and no matter how much you tell a teen (kids don't need that kind of stuff.. I would trade every drug I ever did and drink I had to have back my childhood) they won't listen.. They have to find out for themselves. I never did understand smoking tobacco or cigars or anything like that. I know a lot of people that got addicted ot that stuff though usage of marijuana and drinking, now those people are huge burnouts that have incredibly lower marks then they could have achieved and are getting into harder drugs like cocaine, LSD and several others i won't mention. If used responsibly, it (marijuana) is a wonderful drug and can lead to a wonderful experience, in both your mind and health, but if abused it can lead to huge problems. neowin_hipster
I would like to see smoking made against the law. Even if ppl still smoke they would have to pay loads and have it less often. Health Care would save money too. In some ways smoking is worse than marijuana.
postertoad
.... like I would have a choice. :disappoin But, if by some strange mishap they did what I told them, I would not mind a bit of the booze once in awhile ... but never, EVER, would I condone the nicotine habit [be it smoke, chew, or gum]. As an ex-smoker, I can say that smoking is a pathetic form of habitual slavery - and nothing more. ooops - just noticed it was a reference to pot, not cigs. In that case, a little here and there, as long as they didnt just sit around the house eating everything. ;)

TommyTourettes
I'm about to be 21 and have been smoking cigarettes and weed now for about three years... not that I'm exactly proud of it, I just don't see anything wrong with weed especially or cigs except for the fact that cigs are really bad for the lungs. I've gotten drunk here and there but I'm not really a drinker at all, but I don't really see much wrong with drinking once and a while either as long as its done in a safe place and there is no driving involved. I would definitely discourage my kids from any of these activities, but if I was still smoking pot as a parent(probably secretly) and found out my kid was smoking pot at age 16 or so, I'd rather have them do it with me at home then somewhere else and get busted. Same goes for drinking I guess, I'd do my best go keep the activities at home only till they move out. This is just where I stand for now, most likely when I actually become a parent I won't be smoking any more(weed at least) and my view would be a lot different. hackr86
drink...in very slight moderation. i have some wikid thing in my head which makes me think 'teh drink = teh bad' so i don't like it when i hear my friends say how great it was the other night when they got hammered. :right: smoking? helll nooooo. i don't want my kids to be burnouts, and i don't want them to die young, get cancer, smell funky, etc. i already smell like ass if i'm around friends that smoke, what if i actually smoked? meh. my 2 cents. Stryder68
Once my daughter is out on her own, she can do what she wants. It is my job to try and prepair her for that time. All I can do is be honest with her and show her the facts. Educate her the best I can. The choices are up to her.
