Broadband users only - Interesting topic :)

Recommended Posts

No matter what type of broadband connection you have (xDSL, Cable, T1, T3, Satellite, etc) and no matter wherever in the world you live (which have broadband connection).....it is interesting to know how much our usual download usage so far this month :)

It's also good to hear whether your broadband ISP have capped usage limit (how much per month you can use) and what speed you're, etc :D

Starting from me. So far I've used almost 7 gigs so far this month. I'm on Telstra Bigpond ADSL 512/128 (Australia), and my ISP was planning to have 3 gb monthly usage limit (but actually they haven't enforced it because of users complaints) ;)

I have 1.5MB down/ 256K upload DSL, i have no clue as to how much i've downloaded this month, i never bother to count, with all the movies and music i download i wouldn't be surprised if it was 10+ gb and rising.

When I had my 10mbit/128k Cable modem, I was downloading about 35-36 gigs a month. roughly 3 gig a day or so..

Now, i have a 640K/256K DSL and I only download maybe 3-7gig a month..

Last month i used about 25 Gigabytes down (i buy 20 Gigs a month from a news server ;) ), 5 gigs up. About half of that is legal stuff, and the other half is *ahem.cough* well... music, porn, videos and *cough* w.a.r.e. z *cough* :o That doesnt include what the rest of my family used (although that is not very many Gigs). i have a 1.5Mbit cable modem.

I personally prefer NetStat Live (info page) It's more accurate and it's simple without as many features as the other one, to me, this is a plus. I can see though how people would want the graphs, but this does everything but that in one menu.

I figure my downloads are running around 10-15 gigs a month. My uploads are easily in the 15-20 gig range. (I get something good, say Spiderman, Red Faction, etc and then I have more friends than I ever knew I had)

Road Runner uses a cap, so it's frustrating at times. Not like when I had @Home. If no one else was heavily using the internet in my neighborhood, the cables would just hum as the data flew into my computer....

I just looked at my stats, and yes slashdot14 netstatlive is much better :)

I'm on cable, 1500/300 and so far this month it's around 16.75gb, mind you that's including download all sorts of "boat pictures etc..." from usenet (I get somewhere between 160+k per second from MediaOne's news servers!), and startrek episodes and movies from IRC.

My record is like 45gb in one single month, filled a brand new hard drive :)

But then again, when I worked in NYC a year or so ago, I filled a 20gb hard drive in less than a day with "boat pictures", just for ****s and giggles!

According to stat'n'perf:

17GB sent

14GB recieved

Telstra Cable - according to their usage meter it is only 8.2GB in total :s

Oh well, I'm not complaining! ;)

Hmm hard to answer as stuff varies ... but a GB a day usually, if more is there then it can go as high as 4GB a day for a couple of weeks. Needless to say on a 27GB hdd, I use a lot of cd's !

according to dialer 2000 which I bought in Mid August, I've done 122.204 GB since then.

I have to shift alot of Graphics daily between office and home, as I work from home. And the team have to stay in constant awareness of design progress.

-

plus I watch alot of streamed films.

I can safetly say I shift about 50-70Gigs a Month. on both streams.
