robinmthomas
Maybe it is just me, but I feel like the last year hasn't left us techies with anything exciting to try or learn or play with. Sure, we have Linux, but that lost its appeal a way back. Sure, we have the Xbox and PS2, but we can't really tinker with those. Sure, VS.NET and .NET, but that is a few months/years away from being fully deploy. In the past there was Flash, DHTML, JAVA 2+ years ago we have LiteStep 1 year ago we have Stardock Sure...all of those things are still around...but what are the really neat things to do with technology? Neat coding projects? Aweseome Web Stuff? What now?

Yes, but robinmthomas wrote about Linux, Xbox etc. and I think that XP is the turning point in the Windows' history. You know: something like Win95 after DOS and Win 1.0. Geronimo
What about 22 MBs wireless, with 54 Mbs right around the corner. Or the cascading keys for encryption. Maybe for the regular day to day stuff there seems to be a lull in the latest and greatest stuff out there. But in the high fields there is some really exciting stuff going on. robinmthomas
Alright, Alright...I realized I should have been more clear. As far as the square wheel goes....when Microsoft gets done marketing that product...it will makes sense and all cars will be designed around a square wheel :) Seriously, Any real ideas? I used Linux as an example because when I used linux I bought a book, downloaded an ISO and it kept me busy for a month trying to learn what I needed to learn. .NET stuff is starting to get me interested, but what else. What about programming a home entertainment system? Sounds far off? But why? What about XPE (Windows XP Embedded)? Could we starting making our own TIVOs? Those are the kind of kick ass things I was referring to? Thanks for the postings...I am still laughing..:)
