ThisSiteHasLostItsCharm
I definately think it's a picture of a piece of deris from the spacecraft. Notice what looks like the parachute and a couple other things in the background, I know I'd try to get a shot like that to demonstrate just how far the rover really has traveled. Plus it's just cool to see pictures of the equipment that got the rover where it is.Could also be a tire tread that came off, I know one of the rovers had to move in reverse all the time after a while because of a wheel problem :p Very interesting item no matter what it is though (Y) 585083415 What a wooden ship?

KeR
it's a piece of rock that over time was pushed up, you can tell it's layered btw this happens a lot here on earth too; called a sedimentary rock. Solth
It has been theorized that a LONG TIME ago that Mars did support some type of environment which included Water and plant life so this could be something that had been preserved?
BroChaos Veteran Posted January 31, 2005 Veteran Share Posted January 31, 2005 thats a cool picture. the ground has like a tile pattern. don't know what the object is though...really strange.
Echilon
It doesn't just look like wood from a tree, it looks like a plank. If there's a plank on Mars, then there has to be intelligent life able to grow, cut down, chop up trees
Matt T
A debri from the spacecraft 585083229 I doubt it would be that - wouldn't it have burnt up while entering the atmosphere? And do nasa even use wood with their spacecraft?
