WHat many of you do not realize is that it is not about religion at all. We can be religious about any thing. You can be religious about eating Corn Flakes for breakfast every morning. Religion is nothing but a ritual. It requires nothing from the heart.

I'll be honest. These days, I hate even being considered an assosiate with what most people call a Christian. I'll even go one step further and say that I dont like being referred to as a Christian. Because if you look at the world and what most Christians have done, and are still doing, its not something I want to be associated with.

I say this, I am a follower of Jesus. My life does not revolve around ritual. I live to please Him. Not because I think it will get me a better place in heaven. Not because I think I have to do good things to make him notice me. I know that not only am I eternally validated through Him, but that I was crafted by Him, with an eternal purpose in mind. I am forever failing in my walk. I stumble, I fall, I get back up and keep walking. He's always there to tend my wounds. He's always there to revalidate me when the world says I am crap. He never fails me. His love is unconditional.  That's a hard one to fathom. Unconditional love. Most of us dont believe in it because we've never experieinced it, so we just assume it doesnt exist, and if it doesn't exist, then neither does He.

The point it all comes down to is soooo far from any type of "religion". What it boild down to is "Love".  Love is the end all, be all, crux of Christianity. Anyone who has ever came before and had not love, dare I say, was never evena Christian at all, and did nothing but make things worse for the world. Anyone who truly carries His name on their heart will not only carry love, but, will be seen as a light to the world.

Everything else flows out of this love. Truth, Conviction, Justice, Redemption. All of it. If it is not handed down in Love, then it is nothing more than a club beating the head of a child.

Now, this is where many of you may disagree with me, but, I will say it anyway. I will go one step further and say that many of you are followers of Jesus, and don't even realize it. Many of you follow Jesus more closely than most Christians may ever. He is Selfless, Compassionate, Merciful, Loving, Merciful, Humble, and Just. I could go on, but I know many people in my life who are all of these things, yet they don't realize the source from which it comes.

I'll close by saying this: Everyone I've ever known, including myself, who has ever claimed to be agnostic or atheist was so because they were either caught up in their own mind trying to figure it all out or because they were, at some time or another, hurt and chose to blame God. Well, for those of you that will accept it, I personally want to say, that anyone who has ever come to you in the name of Jesus and has hurt you in anyway was either misled and didn't know the damage they were causing, or never had His name written on their heart to begin with.

I would like to personally apologize on behalf of anyone who has ever hurt any of you.

BTW...

If you're looking for insurance... choose Geiko... not God... He's doesn't do insurance. He's in the business of Life Transplanting

i think i already posted in this one, but i just have a question for you? why can't people like you just accept the fact that we DO NOT believe in god, or any form of religion. why do we have to believe in something. i do not believe in god, and its not because he hurt me, or someone that serves him hurt me, its because i just don't believe it. i believe in evolution and all that scienfic stuff. i won't defend myself, and i dont' think you should have to either. why dont' we stop a forum like this, because no one is going to change their views. people are gonna do what they do, why can't we all just deal with that. you don't see me goin around trying to convince people there is no god, on the other hand theres always someone trying to convince us there is a god....

Yes, imagine, using a forum for debate. Who knows what tomorrow will bring; using a tissue to blow noses with? It seemed to be doing fine without your interjection of mediocrity.

It's funny that you felt a need to post that you don't need to post.

That isn't the point of my post that i pointed while posting a post.

seriously, that was meant to not discuss what the discussion was about when they were discussing the posting of posts that you pointed out about not posting when you sneezed.

Or something like that.

I don't see anyone's post here as them trying to sway my belief. That would be a foolish waste of time, as much as it would be me trying to convert a believer. Why are people so against debate as a tool for learning something, no matter how trivial?

Perhaps we should debate something a little more close to your heart, such as your computer specs? Would that please you enough to leave us alone in healthy and friendly debate?

May I suggest going to a church to maybe find the answers there?

What is the point of this forum? My faith says to stay away from debating these things for debate.

585284791

Why should we not debate things just for debate, there is no way we can change the mind or heart of a hardened person believer or non-believer. If you would read a little of the posting you will see that is not just a debate for the sake of debate., it is an honest discussion on the existence of a superior being.

I cannot prove that God does exist, I just have faith that he does exist.

Sorry guys...I did not know that this forum was extremly serious. My fault. And Debating is not a problem. What I was trying to express in a round about way...that...For the believer, There is no proof Required. To the Nonbeliever, thier is no proof attainable.

i just look at it like this. lets create a figure, that created everything. then lets scare everyone into believing by creating a hell. now, lets put this at the center of everyones life. lets ask some questions, why did this happen, answer because its gods will. when is this gonna happen, answer when god wants it to, because he has a plan. someone who knows everything, created everything, and then this perfect being who loves us all, sending people that don't believe to eternal damnation. i think if he truly loves us like everyone says, then why is there a hell. i want to believe in some sort of afterlife, but i just can't. like posted early by somone, theres just more proof he doesn't exsist then that he does

Since when does the christian church, moden day reformed, do anything bad? I have no problem being associated as a Lutheran, and I myself am myself a follower of Jesus. I am always seeing things done by so called "christians" that I would not want to, and furthermore you can't always believe that just because someone calls themself a christian that they are infact living a christian life, but even with that said, we are all sinners.

If you want to talk end times, then how about the persecution of the followers of Jesus. Jesus predicted the persecution of the Church before His death:

"If the world hates you, you know that it has hated Me before it hated you... If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you." (John 15:18-20)

An even more specific prophecy concerning the persecution of Christians is indicated in the book of Matthew:

"Then they will deliver you to tribulation, and will kill you, and you will be hated by all nations on account of My name." (Matthew 24:9)

No wonder Christianity is being blamed for the tsunami by some Moslims in Iraq.

That might read as great fodder for a Christmas cracker or a fortune cookie, and hey, if you read it enough times, if may even sound as though it's resounding with deep wisdom. But in actual fact it's just not true.

You park a UFO in my garden tomorrow and let me investigate it and I'm pretty much forced by physical fact to believe that they exist.

Please, no more pearls of wisdom unless they actually ring true.

Not true. You can no more prove your love for anything as i can prove god exists. but i will live on faith that you do love things and I chose to believe in god.

Ah, my mistake, I didn't realise that UFOs were excluded from this pearl of wisdom. That's the trouble with the little adages, they read as great little pearlers, but alas, never stand up to practical inquisition.

Why has god forsaken hundreds and hundreds in south asia?

585284876

We live in a world permeated with sin. It's a sinful world. Because of that and since the devil is the prince of this world, as the Bible says, bad things happen to good people. But consider this, a lot more good has happened to people who love God in Jesus than bad. Read Psalm 90 and 91. And consider how God can turn the bad things into good for those who love God (Romans 8:28)

I always hate it when people ask "where is God in a time like this", when they don't ask where he is in their life when they are simply living in sin without repentence and think that they don't need him.

The difference betwene why a believer is saved and why a non-believer isn't is that even because Jesus died for the sins of the world, a lot of people don't really let the blood of christ pay the penalty instead of their own, because the cost of a persons soul is costly, more than any one of us could afford.

it's interesting to note that most christians live in 3rd world countries, the more ignorant a country is the more attached it is to religion.

Have you really met many different christians of all classes? i've seen many devout christians that spend many a time praying and in the church have the same or worst luck than people that don't.

Yes...its called Prayer...no phonejack or wireless required.

Maybe if you help point out all of the faults of believers, and knowing that no one has all of the answers you chose to make people look like fools. Claiming to be wise surely means you don't know.
