I'm curious how many of the people that don't believe in God celebrate Christmas?

585112707

Christmas, that secular "end-of-year" celebration that had been celebrated thousands of years, only to be roped in by Christians and changed to be "Jesus' Birthday", even though it's widely believed that Christ was born nowhere near the end of December?

Yeah, I celebrate that holiday every year :D

Speak for yourself

God is there -- IT told me so

585095389

:woot:

The second commandment says "Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth..."

Note: in the water under the earth This was written by man who assumed that the earth floated on top of the water like an iceberg and that there was life living underneath it like whales. If god was the creater of all things he would have known this.

"In the beginning god created the heaven and the earth..." The 'heaven' in this case is the sky, and the earth, well... its the earth. But what about the rest of the universe? In comparison the earth is relatively young compared to the universe, did he create the big bang as well? Its not written because people of that era DIDN'T KNOW SH*T!

The holy books are so outdated its amazing how people still follow it so closely. You wouldnt study an 1880's driving manual if you want to go for your license today, why would you follow your life in the ways of the 200A.D

nice analogy :)

I'm curious how many of the people that don't believe in God celebrate Christmas?

585112707

well, not everyone who celebrates christmas, celebrates the 'birth' of 'Christ'. Dec 25th was a peagan holiday before 'Christ' was 'born'.

Kind of a weird poll, don't you think?

The options yes, he's there when you need him/her/it, yes, but I don't pray are all acknowledging the existence of god(s) on various levels.

No, and Antheist are the same thing.

It would be better to say antheist v. agnostic, that is, no god v, god, but no organized religion.

Anarchy is a political agenda, not a religious one, unless you are telling me with a straight face that you worship chaos.

Where's all the druids at? That's an option to, you know.

Any how about an option for evil? Satan, Cthulu, etc. are religious options as well.

I'm catholic, lapsed, by the way, so I voted yes anyway, despite my problems with the poll.

How could you have a sig like that? It is one of the symbols of satanism.

It may symbolism satanism, but it doesn't have to mean I think it is wrong. It is just another religion. And you have no right to tell people, what and what not they can do...

If Christ wanted you going around telling people that is wrong, and try to overflow your own opinions and ways of life on them, than he would have been not a savior, but a dictator.

Well, it just seems that we have a little discussion on our hands, now don't we.

Yes, fellow members of Neowin, I do believe in God, the Trinity, and in Jesus Christ his only son, and our Lord, who was born by a virgin, yes, and suffered to get the jews to vote him to be released, but that bloodthirsty pack decided to crucify their born leader and savior.

Fortunately, he came back to life in the form of a spirit and then went into heaven and now sits on the right hand of God the Father almighty. And he will return one day for the final judgment.

This is in the Bible. The President of the United States believes it, many members of our government believe it, and I do as well.

I not only believe it because I was born into a Christian family and am a Pastors kid, I believe it because I've seen the other side of people. The side that lacks Gods embrace, the side that goes on day to day thinking they are enough for themselves, and the side that thinks there is no God. Are they scared to believe, are they worried about acceptance in today's world to be shut in a closet about God and never face the fact that they need him? We probably won't know and it does make me sad that I will never be able to see these people in paradise.

I know that when I die, and after living a good and clean Christian life and after professing faith in Jesus Christ, I will be met by him in heaven. So, I have the peace of mind that helps hundreds of millions of others in this world, perhaps a billion or more.

This is my opinion, and the opinions of all my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. And yes, we also have different opinions, that's why we have different denominations, so what I have said is pretty much a generic belief among us, as I can understand it from visiting most of the other denominations.

So, before I leave you all with these facts above, I will ask you to question your current non-Christian ideals, and ask yourself, will you see me in paradise, because unfortunately, a lot of you won't.

If you've read all of this, then there might be more of a void in your life than I thought. And there is one way to fulfill it, a nice little 5 letter book I like to read, also known as the Bible. Even from the first pages it offers help on life's tough non-Christian questions. "In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth," even the first passage offers one of the biggest answers. So go out and get a copy and have the time of your life reading it, because time spent with God, whether in prayer or reading, is time not wasted.

Thank you all for your time, and God bless.

Read it until you see the truth behind your shadowy past and into a bright, new, and exciting Christian future.

Everyone has different opinions and several can and will be expunged with my words above. We all need Jesus, plain and simple.

On the contrary, we embrace our union with Jesus Christ, it's the people who hide from Jesus and God that are afraid. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's just that way.

Thank you for further showing others my point.

You think that if you can make yourself believe that Christianity is unreal and there is no God, that you can controll everything that happends to you. Unfortunate for your ideas, God does controll you. He knows everything about everything, and his son, Jesus Christ, will be there when you die.

When He asks you why He should let you into the kingdom of Heaven, what will you say to Him?

Will you plead to be let in, or will you just accept your fate and existance apart from God for eternity in the place we know as hell. Yes, a bit extreme, but all so true my friend.

i'm a christian

therefore, i do believe in God

585146343

hmm, i'm starting to wonder...

do you believe in god because you are christian or are you christian because you believe in god? they're very different.

and john_m, you say god controls people. that's not what most christian philosophers say. they uphold god and free will simultaneously. many of their arguments are aimed at reconciling the two.

as for me, i think i posted already, and most people know my position, but if you don't, the answer is "no." i'm an existentialist (though i'm spiritual in eastern philosophies).

585147038

um i dont believe in heaven

and what ur basically saying is that everyone who doesnt believe in god is a fool

which isnt really cool dude, what about all the other religions?

i believe that there is someTHING up there becuase its only logical that the universe didnt create itself, but i dont believe that there is a person up there controlling everything

and in answer to your question: what would i say to god?

i would say: oh, so you DO exist, my bad, nice to meet you

Dont believe in god at all. Theres no evidence whatsoever that it exists. Most religions seem to think they're right and their particular deity is the one to believe in. Theres so much **** happening in the world related to religion.

Theres an interesting looking documentary on ch4 soon called "Who Wrote the Bible?". I think it was just a control mechanism for the church to get people to do what they wanted.
