locke
whoa.. nice timing for this thread, i was thinkin abt the courses.. i'm 16.. which would mean i'm 9 years away from entering the workforce (2 years left in school, then 3 yrs national service and then 4? years in uni) i'm thinkin the market would be loaded with IT pros so doing Computer Science in uni wouldnt make me very marketable.. My frenz told me that life sciences will be the "in" thing in 9 yrs, what do u guyz think? Any suggestions on what course i should do?

iamnotwhoisayiam
I'm just finishing my 3rd year of my 4 year Computing Science degree at Glasgow University.... its not a bad course but i'm not impressed with the standard of lecturing.. we either have really good lectureers or really bad lecturers... not good for what is supposed to be one of the top uni's in Scotland. I was taking it in Edith Cowan University in Perth. IT degree? Yeah it is just Information Systems...equivalent to Information Technology degree but just different name actually. I am specialising in web programming anyway :) Currently I'm still looking for full time job...but I will find it soon as I can :) Good uni in Melb will be Uni of Melb or Monash Uni or RMIT :) They are good in IT degree. UKer
Finished my uni degree about a year ago, starting a Information Systems masters degree in september and I can't wait to be a student again - work just ain't what it's cracked up to be (except having more cash!!) Hopefully going into IT project management after that, as having spent the last year in network design I decided I'de rather spend my days talking to people than telnet'in PCs :)

Its objective is to educate and train students in the scientific methods, engineering principles and professional practices of the following activities: analysing problems to determine economical software solutions; developing well-organized and effective system requirements; establishing measurable goals for such factors as safety, security, usability, performance, maintainability, reliability, adaptability and economic viability; designing software as well as systems that include more than just software in order to achieve these goals; validating requirements and designs to determine whether they will indeed solve the original problem; implementing designs by writing well-organized programs; verifying that the software works correctly and that goals have been met; precisely documenting the software; managing and coordinating software projects and the teams in charge;
