Adobe's injunction on Macromedia

Recommended Posts

What do people think is likely to happen with the Adobe vs Macromedia court battle?

What exactly is the copyright infringement? Is it, assuming Flash MX is similar to DW MX (and MM claim they use the same interface), this tabbed interface?

DWMX.gif

or this one?

DWMX2.gif

or both?

What is likely to happen? Could Adobe stop Flash MX being shipped? As MM claim the MX range have a similar interface (therefore easy to learn one when you know one blah blah blah), could other MX products be delayed? In particular Dreamweaver MX which I'm looking forward to greatly! Thoughts?

Are Adobe and MM in competition?

I suppose they are a bit. Adobe have a HTML editor don't they? Do they have a web animation format or anything like that?

well, the graphics design leader is photoshop, not fireworks

and the HTML editor leader is dreamweaver, and not golive

so they're basically 1:1 in terms of market share :)

however, i DO think that adobe should sue macromedia over fireworks, since version 4 is just SUCH a goddamn photoshop ripoff. they even got the same icons and the same menu systems :dead:

i could care less about the tabbed palettes, though

S**t, i sure as hell hope that adobe doesent be such a baby that they stop flash MX... EVEN adobe uses Flash! look at there website :D I meen I LOVE ADOBE alot more than macromedia, but they both have there weaknesses! Adobe like Spectre said doesnt have a powerful HTML editor like macromedia's Dreamweaver. On the other hand Adobe have a KICK ASS image editor/maker and compare that to fireworks. i meen i would MUCH preffer use Jasc Painshop Pro than fireworks, (but i would MUCH prefer to use Photoshop 1st) and NO ONE else makes a "standard" flash authoring/editing program (except SWiSH etc...) so i meen all in all Just drop it!! they need to look at each others weaknesses/strengths!

adobe and macromedia are in direct competition in a lot of areas.

photoshop vs. fireworks

illustrator vs. freehand

livemotion vs. flash

golive vs. dreamweaver / homesite / cf studio

That's more than I thought. I forgot about Fireworks and I've ever heard of Livemotion. I don't know anything about either of the 2nd one, illiustrator vs freehand. Looking at the sites - are Illustrator and Freehand drawing programs (subtly different from painting programs!)?

These two really shouldn't fight it out - the winners of that bout will be Jasc, Ulead, Microsoft, etc with their products.

I use Adobe for certain things, and Macromedia for certain things. There are just a few things in each that do things extremely well that the other doesn't.

I use Photoshop and Premiere.. While i use Fireworks and Flash...

In my opinion Macromedia makes the best WYSIWYG HTML editor. Although, nothing compares to the superiority of Photoshop. I think Adobe makes more software than Macromedia does, each have the tabbed interface. But, even Windows has tabs, so I predict that the final outcome of the Macromedia/Adobe battle will be nothing happening.

I was wanting to know what everyones opinion or feelings tword adobe would be if Adobe succeeds in getting this injuction aginst Macromedia, prohibiting them from selling there software. I personaly think its's a crock of **it! I mean I love Adobe's graphic software (just purchesed version 7 of photoshop) but as a web designer my work totaly revolves around Dreamweaver and Flash as I'm sure many of you do to. Flash has become so big on the internet that I don't think adobe understands how many of there customers they would **** off and probably loose. All I know is that if they get this injunction I will go elsewhere for graphics software (Corel, or Jasc). So let's here it people. How many of you are going to be ****ed at the fit throwing Adobe who's all upset because there live motion program bombed and flash soared.
