New form of advertising

omfg... I'm coming across so many ads where a java applet or something comes down and floats in the middle of your screen for like 20 seconds... GRR they tick me off!

Me 2... they are known as "shockeles".

They are always stupid too... they like have butterflies flying around and birds chriping and all this other happy annoying stuff. And sometimes i see one where a basement floods and a couch which some guy standing on it starts floating around on my screen

Why is this thread useless??? Its about computers and whats being shown on them.

And it might lead to a question like... how do i turn them off... and then somebody would say: by disabling flash.

Yeah i try to avoid those sites, but there everywhere... and pretty soon they said that they are going to start ones that can add buttons of sites and advertisements to your internet explorer tool bar etc... I will be so mad if they do that.

Yeah other programs too like kazza and all those things have em too, and sometimes i'm not even using a browser and an advertisments come up. I am just sitting there and they pop up.

this is why I use mozilla.

it's immune to popups if I turn them off and most of the javascript for this stuff is so geared toward IE that it's incompliant as sh*t and doesn't work in Moz (where compliance is ALWAYS a plus :D )

i love using mozilla too..

the only minus comparing to IE is that it runs a little bit slow..

The scrolling is better than before, but it still isn't as fast of a program as IE or Opera..

Other than that, the features are unbeatable

i love it :)

i'm glad i havent run into those yet.. i'll consider myself lucky. i'll have to try out mozilla, in linux it reminds too much of netscape which i despise.. maybe there's some stuff i havent found out yet. What are the benefits of mozilla over opera or IE ?

Well over IE , the advantages are that it renders pages under a VERY advanced rendering engine which are almost fully compatible with mozilla.. Mozilla is compatible with almost every standard listed on http://www.w3.org which is the web standards page.. It has advanced cookie control which i have yet to see in IE. Some other advanced tools also which i can't list here because there are too many :p Just give it a try, can't hurt ya

btw, did i say it has great skins :)

hmm skins eh :D

the cookie control..

under IE i make it ask me to confirm every cookie, then i allow/disallow accordingly.

what does mozilla do that makes it advanced ?

well it is kind of hard to explain in words, but ill give it a shot

you don't need to go through all that with allowing sites and disallowing sites to leave cookies..

in mozilla , after a site puts a cookie in , if you want you can delete it thru this nice menu and tell it to never allow deleted cookies to be created again, and you will never get a cookie again from that site..

I hope that kind of explained it :p

I've been seeing some flash ads lately where if I press "close" it links me to the ad's web site (in the same window). Anyone else seen these? Man, I hate those...
