steaming mad about what the Gov. is doing 2 MS.

Recommended Posts

I beleive if the gov is allowed 2 screw MS we are all f***ed why.

read my thoughts:

here is the problem, those nine state's I live in on of them (utah) want it to be moduler, and they want the source code 2 be free like in GNU/Linux. Now we all can agree that GNU/Linux is very powerfull, yet 2 us people who know what the hell we are doing......well most of us......So let's say these states get what they want.....1-2 years from now the Windows market will be like the linux market to many choice's, not enough compatiblity. There will be other companies making Windows (Realwindows think of that only run's realplayer/Bonzibuddy windows) so in the end we arnt gonna have a choice any ways cuz we will have 2 boot into 8 diffrent versions of windows 2 run a couple programs.

Biggest problem is the mass markets, I do tech support for a Nation wide ISP, there are people out there that CAN NOT RUN WINDOWS it's like it's impossible for them 2 use a computer, the sit in front of it and ther brain implodes........So my Question is will they be able to run Linux at it's current state? HEck no! Well soon windows will be just Like Linux/ linux will be just like windows so the mightey doller (this is what it's all about anyways) will stop being spent on computers, The Mass's stop buying computers, so the market will go down, sooner later they will stop makeing computers, the internet will start getting smaller.......Till ONe day neowin just disappers, What a sad world. Yet all the farmers will be happy on that note! (that's all the republicans care about is the RICH farmers.)

wadda think

eidit: opps just noticed there is already a discussion going on about this....sorry mods, you can closey if you want to

If what you say is true, then there will be an even greater gap between those of us that can and those that cannot. The average user will become lost, opening up even more careers in support positions similair to the one you have now.

You must have a really strange installation of Linux going by the post you made. Choices, yes. Compatiblity problems due to choices? Nope. Sure there are compatiblity problems, but that's just because not enough people use Linux for enough hardware manufacturers to make drivers.

I know of no programs that need a particular Linux distributions. Some programs need particular window managers, for example Konquerer (sp?) needs KDE, but that's hardly a fundimental flaw in Linux. Likewise, some programs come with handy installers, .deb for Debian programs, which install everything nicely. If you use a distro which your downloaded program doesn't have a nice installer for, load up the tarball and install it by hand.

If a lot of variations do come up they will be based on the current Windows code and current driver and installation structure will work. If the variations do branch out, they will probably go somewhat in the direction of Linux, which from my experience is nothing like the operating system you have used. It is also getting easier to use all the time - and Windows variations will have the added bonus of starting off from the ease of use of Windows.

Besides, if there becomes a variation that only runs Realplayer and Bonza Buddy, it won't be used :)

I should have phrased it that why yet for the sake of my bleeding fingers, yet shortened it which threw off my point......

Linux isn't (as) commercial as Windows, companys want there products on our machine, so the major companies (Real,Aoltimewarner(netscape),ect ect, will end up doing the same thing as MS is doing right now........installing there own software on their flavor of windows, it will just destroy one decent OS, and spwan a whole bunch of OS's doing the same thing Windows does right now.....default to IE/OE, WMP ect....

Another thing, I use IE I could use a diffrent browser if I wanted to, I used 2 use Netscape didn't like it, not because it didn't work just didn't like it. I use Winamp. I watch DVD's on my machine all the time, I use WinDVD. (funny WMP needs software like windvd to play dvd's) I use what ever I want, sure IE/OE WMP MS Messenger our wasting space on my machine. YEt MS made the OS they should be able to put what ever the f*** they want in it right, it's there's they made it created it. It has it's issues, so does Linux/unix OSX ect ect.

I propouse this.....instead of killing Window's, Maybe those state's should give incentives 2 companys and programmers 2 devoulpe programs 4 other OS's? They do it with the phone companys, the FCC charges you tax's on your phone bill that the give back to the CLEC's (smaller phone companys that use the larger phone companys networks) for advertisment, to help pay for cost's ect. Promote compititon don't destroy one of Americas greatest competitors (even though they steal have their stuff).

Here in Utah they don't care about the above the care about money, Our school system is one of the lowest funded in the nation, yet there spending 280 Million 2 make sure the Goverment pucks have roomy airconditoned NEW office's buildings. Funny thing is that My brother in law goes to a school where it's so over croweded that they have class rooms in trailers with no air condtioners what BS.

by the way UT is one of the states still sueing MS.

For the people by the people? No, for the Goverment, by the people:mad:

You make a good point. I personally don't care about MSIE bundled - it's good business practice and they would be mad to not do this, at least before the fuss.

Likewise, AOL are mad to persue this while completely missing the sequel - MSN Messager being bundled with - and increasingly incorporated into - Windows while slowing increasing on ICQ and AIM's share.
