Patch
i have windows 2000 and a linksys router hooked up to my cable and the connection is dropping alot about every hour. The cable company said i have a good signal and the modem i got is now 2 days old. Also i know my nic card works because i can still see computers on my network. So im wondering is there any way to tell if my router is bad. Becuase io know the cables are good too. I tested them. Thnax

Dredlok
Plugging the cable modem directly into one of your PCs is the best way to test this out. You have to reset the cable modem each time you connect a new network card. Their servers lock onto your MAC address and most cable modems won't work until you reset them. See if that makes any difference...
SlowNeasy
For a good Linksys forum go here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/equip,16 Read what others are saying about your particular router and how they solved it. Chances are a firmware upgrade will help.
