azazel-
Right now, I use Windows XP Pro on my desktop. Waiting for Slackware 8.1 to come out, then I *may* set up a dual-boot system again. The laptop I just ordered ships with Windows XP Home, depending on my opinion on that, I may keep it, or put Windows 2000 Pro on it, and *possibly* a linux install as well, although I haven't decided yet. Also, in my experience, most online individuals who have "kitten" in their nick, more often than not are fat, repressed, ****ant people who enjoy causing drama. Bear that in mind before you continue the childish back-and-forth crap thats been going on on this thread.

jaredbkt
If you say that "I deliberatly left out Mac OS of the poll as the debate isn't about Mac systems... just in case your wondering..." then you need to change your thread title to "What Intel PC OS Do You Use?" I use Mac OS X, it's an OS by definition...it's not listed but it's a very powerful OS. Mac OS X ROCKS!!

Chad
I'm using Mac OS X. The title is "what os do you use...". Last time I checked, os x was an os. the title should read "which one of these crappy operating systems do you use". Well...linux isn't that bad...i guess beos isn't that bad either. But the windows versions are junk.
tomwarren Veteran Posted May 10, 2002 Veteran Share Posted May 10, 2002 Ahh I just noticed something WickedKitten is trolling ALL the time Also she happens to come from scotland so we can't blame her for her actions, they are all like that up there, its a shame - a real shame :(
Joel
You know, it's incredible that people who use a MAC must apparently be involved in everything resembling an OS debate. The reason, I am guessing, that the thread starter didn't put MAC OSs in the poll is because he was talking about an OS that would run on a Intel or AMD based machine. He even says so somewhere in this very thread. Why cry about the fact he didn't include a MAC OS? If I ask you what colour you like and your choices are purple and green, are you going to say yellow? That's just stupid. If it doesn't say MAC in the choices, why force it? He didn't include MACs, that's all.

tomwarren Veteran Posted May 10, 2002 Veteran Share Posted May 10, 2002 Nah its just everytime you post on this board there is one thing that connects what you say - negative posts. You always have to have a go at people or say something negative for usually no apparent reason.

Koto
Windows 2000 and Linux (Mandrake 8.2 w/ KDE3 =D). I used to use XP (on the Windows partition =P), but it started to **** me off, so I formatted and installed Win2000 (much better than XP IMO, at least until XP SP1 comes out). I do believe this thread was originally started to find out weather the majority of the users of Neowin use a various flavor of Windows or some sort of Linux environment. (Which kind of came to me after seeing the various Windows environments; which could have all been nicely summed up as simply 'Windows'). I don't know why exactly, maybe it's just me, but I don't find it very surprising that the majority of Neowin users use Windows as thier primary Operating Environment. --dave

funkyMonkey
I have to say that I am tired of ppl figthing over OS's. I use most OS and I like all of them. I am glad to say I am intelligent enough to use most OS. I use WindowsXP mostly because I like to play games, watch DVDs and the X86 hardware is fairly cheap. Also on the same box, I use RedHat (just upgraded this morning to 7.3) and I like to use Ximian desktop. I think Ximian dektop is the best dektop (better than XP and even Mac OS X) I use linux because I do all my CS Homework on it. I use Mac OS 9 and X because I do a lot of QuickTime VR and other things which cannot be accomplish on a PC, such video editing. I like OS X and I think this is the best OS to use. I wish all the games were portable on this OS. However, Apple hardware is freaking expensive. They should open their hardware and let the taiwainese create new mobo and chipset. I think this would hit Intel and M$ really bad. Anyways, I am installing gnome in OS X, by using fink. fink is taking care of porting UNIX software to OS X. Now ppl, get along, try to use all OS and get the best out of it.
