Fedorpheux
is there any reason that your processor temp may be too high? that might have something to do with it...not necessarily, but might

gshapiro
If you are O/C'ing CPU and/or memory fall bit a little. Same thing for timings. Better yet... use the defaults just to see if you still get BSOD's.
wa22guy
Did you do a FULL memory test on boot? It sounds like bad RAM. Try http://www.memtest86.com/
zeta
Read the whole BSOD, it will give a filename typically. It's how I found out my wireless USB driver was causing crashes.
SICKZ
Ok I'll run the memtest again and get back on here. Did I use the wrong memory slots? I used the ones the furthest from the cpu, all the way on the right on the picture below.
k22
if you check the event viewer you can post the exact BSOD message here irql less or equal is usually a driver problem. have you updated any drivers recently?
SICKZ
Memory test is fine. Before I reinstalled everything I had updated drivers and when I reinstalled I used the ones that came on the disc. It is CRQL and not IRQL, that I'm sure of. If I set the primary graphics device at AGP instead of PCI in the Bios could that be a problem? I do have an AGP card but when I load the Fail safe values it sets at PCI. You can't really use the "wrong" memory slots, but as a side note, you should put pairs of RAM modules in slots of the same color so you can run the memory in dual channel mode. Is that known to cause any problems?
SICKZ
Also, this is the first time getting this error. I got 4 or 5 BSODS in the last week and there was an error with tcpip.sys. But the other times I didn't get to read it because it restarted too fast. I set it so it wont restart next BSOD.
+allan MVC Posted January 3, 2005 MVC Share Posted January 3, 2005 That error generally is caused by bad or conflicting drivers. Update all of your drivers from the OEM web sites (not from Windows Update) and check for a bios update.

joeywhat11
I have actually been having a similar problem. I have also been getting the same stop error (with CRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL), basically everything the first guy has been saying. I have e dell running windows xp pro and it is inly about 7 months old. ATI radeon x300 graphics, creative sound. I cannot start uo windows normally, only under safe mode. I have tried using both system restore and last known configuration. Bothhave not worked. I am fairly inexperienced in using computers (in terms of using DOS and trying to fix somewhat advanced things, I do know my way around to some degree). Most of this occured when I tried to fix my ATI drivers. The catalyst comtrol center wasn't working right, and I think i may have done somthing wrong in trying to fix it. Can anyone help??? TheNay
Sounds like a driver issue. Download the newest drivers for everything, uninstall all your old drivers, then install the new ones. OR I don't usually tell people to do this, but backup the computer and reinstall windows and use the new drivers. For better compatibility, use WHQL drivers only! These pass Microsoft standards and mean they shouldn't cause issues.
joeywhat11
Yeah, I tried, but I can't. I have to work in safe mode, and whenver I try and install something, it says that the isntaller cannot be accessed because it's in safe mode. Oh, and I can't reinstall windows, since I do not have the CD, thanks to Dell. They don't ship their computers with windows, as to avoid pirating. It sucks. I know. joeywhat11
could you (or someone) explain how to do this in a little more depth? I am not completely sure how to do this, and i'd reather not mess anything else up today...
