To bland for a gaming site. Most gaming site are full color and not minimilistic. So I either suggest changing your design or changing your content.

I just thought of a dark blue instead of orange, and some game characters on the banner

Well, for starters you need content. Theres no point having a site if you don't have content. Visit http://www.ausgamers.com/ for a gaming website. Your site is to minimilistic for that, it just doesn't suit it well.

Bit better, but still too bland. You have to have thumbnails of games, nice headers etc.....
