Tai
Heh... well for a sport which is loaded with tech hardware to keep it running smoothly..... the basics in terms of team strategies & orders don't half make things sucky sometimes... like today's Austrian Grand Prix... Poor Barricchelo... ran a good race, only to have the F1 team bosses tell him to step aside for Schumacher. I'm a big F1 fan....:D didn't really like what happened today.... so what did you guyz think about it ?? opinions ?? For those who didn't see it.. Yahoo reports the story at http://sports.yahoo.com/m/sm/news/reuters/...ngprixtodt.html
MikeN
I thought it was a shame! The whole podium thing was a farce. I don't know who I respect less because of it. Ferrari. Schumacher, Barrichello, or all of them. If this is Barrichello's attitude to racing, then he will never be a world champion so he might has well give up now and retire. He is a Ferrari lacky and nothing more. Certainly this one event has done more this year to devalue the Championship than anything else. On a more serious note, I'm glad to hear Sato is alright after his massive accident... And that is the most important story to come out of this weekend's Grand Prix. hulibecker
I was outraged. What happened is a disgrace to the sport. Rubens should be allowed to race and not be a puppet to someone elses wishes. What of people wanting to bet, whats the point if you think your driver is going to be told to move over. Racing drivers should be told to race! Not move over. And what value is the world championship, when you know you was given points on a plate, when you didnt earn them through racing. As previous said : Podium was a farce. Also great to hear sato is ok. If i was in the governing body, I would ban Ferrari from the next race. Let teams and drivers who want to race, race. Those who want to fix results should stay away! What has happened today in my opinion has devalued the sport.

Tai
Yeah I agree with whats been said, and also Ferrari should get a ban for at least 1 race... that was just too much today for the sport.. if today could even have been called sport. Also it was good to see Sato ok after his accident .
Redmak Administrators Posted May 12, 2002 Administrators Share Posted May 12, 2002 Originally posted by bayrider what exactly happened?? i was watching the replays but i turned around for 2seconds and i missed everything.. Barrichello let schumacher pass just before the finish line so that schumi got full points for being number one. It's a shame for Rubens but he signed a contract and he knew what he was getting into. He knew this was going to happen when they were 1 and 2. He thinks it's an honor to drive a ferrari even if you have to do things like letting Michael pass. I don't like it but a lot of money is involved and ferrari is destined to win this one and is not taking any chances. That's what F1 is all about I guess

That's what F1 is all about I guess It's a shame but your right unfortunately with the amount money that is involved teams cannot ignore the fact of who pays them I'm not saying this makes it right I'm also not saying I agree with it but that's the way F1 is. On the other hand it is bad for the viewing public and if they do lose viewers in turn they will also lose sponsors so it is very hard for the likes of Max Mosley to govern what goes on. bayrider
it seems F1 is more controversial than Microsoft
