lazydesert
in newsgroups, free and fast and reliable dont really fit together. you're best off paying for some access
postertoad
OK, for the sake of argument, lets assume one was willing to "pay" for binary access. Is there a better deal out there than giganews and there pathetic pricing scheme?: 1GB/mo. US$7.95 6GB/mo. US$11.95 8GB/mo. US$15.95 12GB/mo. US$22.95 16GB/mo. US$29.95 25GB/mo. US$44.95 50GB/mo. US$79.95 For those kinda prices they should come make me coffee and fresh scones. If anyones got the info on a premium news service thats worth a poo - I would L O V E to hear about it. YahoKa
HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. ahaahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. oh man is that a stupid question. Your ISP should give you one when you buy access from them, but other than that you won't find any free servers that do that. There are free ones but not that are a) any good b) let you download binaries and c) carry all the groups. /edit Rogers is one of the best ISP news servers. They carry everything and have a 2 day retention.

masterbug
I used to have a good ISP but then they decided to delete the movie groups, but they forgot the one with the newest movies :D And I hope they will never find out...
MxxCon
unfortunatly with news servers good and free can't go in same sentance.:( my stupid isp doesn't carry whole alt.binaries group :( i heard that easynews is also very kickass, but pretty expensive. Spacce
I use my isp's mainly.. but I pay for usage of 500 megs per server, per day.. (2 that includes everything, 1 for strictly binaries, 1 for adult (*porn*)..).. My isp's slow, about 10 - 20k per sec, where I get 40 - 60 with the pay ones, but the pay ones are incomplete, but my isp's are complete, I just download the majority (unbroken parts from the pay servers and download the missing ones from my isp's)..... Can't really recommend a free one, I spent 3 weeks trying to find one and none were any good... if you want better ones.. try pay ones..
autodefe
my isp's news server flat out sucks.. i was paying for giganews for a while.. they were pretty good (not to mention fast servers)..
UKer
Easynews is only $9.99 a month for 6 gigs ($9.99 again if you want another 6), and is perfect for binary etc with a search for individual groups.;) It also has fast IRC and I've been using it for ages with no probs. Once tried to find a free one worth using - and coundn't.
