Pyro: i was exactly like you, i dont know how old you are... but when i first started high school i was getting around 80-90% in all my classes, then i started to make friends, be stubborn and lazy, in grade 12 i compleletly dropped off, at around 65% and now ive wasted a year of my life getting privately tutored to get caught up to get into college cause i didnt bother to do it during school... as much as the stuff is useless, i regret not doing all my work or attending most of my classes... have your fun and learn too

you might not think it now, but one day or another your highschool and college will come back to help you... trust me on that one and im only 20yrs old

I don't know . . .

In fact I doubt I ever will. Someone who fails all of their classes would never get far enough in our hiring process to find out.

Sorry kid, you can rationalize all you want but nothing will change the fact that those who apply themselves in life always go farther than those who don't.

All things in moderation . . .

You have to strike a balance between what you want to do and what you need to do.

It isn't my intention to scare you. Just telling it like it is.

Look . . . people are creatures of habit. If you develop poor study habits it will be all that much harder to break them if you suddenly decide to make your education a priority. Not only that, since you haven't been studying, you'll be starting at a disadvantage to begin with. So not only will you be trying to overcome a habitual behavior, but you'll be trying to learn things that are beyond your capacity.

You need to develop a pattern of success now, so that it will be easy for you to continue your education. College is NOTHING like high school. No one will call your parents if you fail, they'll just kick you out. I don't know how much credits are in Canada, but even at the local Junior College here a single class will cost several hundreds of dollars. The course work is far more demanding as well.

Just in case this hasn't occurred to you, all of this will come to pass in a couple of years. I have a pair of shoes older than that. If you're in 10th grade, you're nearly an adult . . . the safety net of Mommy and Daddy isn't going to be there forever.

The world is a dangerous and unforgiving place. It doesn't care what happens to you. You need to care yourself.

Ultimately it's your life . . . but this social life you speak of will whither and die in a very short time. People get jobs, they get married and have children. They haven't the time for the social calander of single youth. At 42, I have one friend from high school, I have no idea where the rest are. Ten years from now half or more of those friends will be gone . . . ask anyone.

I'm not saying that you need to be all work and no play. But even a minimal effort will get you a C. I bet your parents would be gratified and hassle you far less even if you brought home C's across the board.

Just think about it.

Two years is a pimple and it will go by much faster than you realize. The choices you make today WILL affect your tomorrows.

Take Care and Be Safe,
