Just checked the download, they've changed it again since my previous post! It is now, as you say, 1,506,400 bytes, MD5 hash D726ACA8FCBFC291A6489D7D6485AAF8.

Is it still build 1.0.176.0?

As the one I mentioned in post 99 worked, I'm not going to uninstall/install it again.

parkd1,

Well, I posted on MS newsgroups (XP general) and two other people report the same problem I have with the color control applet not opening; no solution offered. If you have suggestions, please let me know.

sorry if this is somewhat OT for this thread, maybe I should start one on another board?

586749093[/snapback]

Installed it on Windows XP SP2 home edition.......applet doesn't respond on my command...... A setting must be made manually...... the question is.....would it be the same for all people using AutoPatcher and apply this???? If all would be the same then it won't be a problem to include it, what if it isn't the same..........?

UPDATE:

Found the problem why the applet isn't responding.

When you have a clean installation, then you didn't install the monitor driver at the first place. Now I have installed the monitor driver (installed an ICM and/or ICC profile) and damn........the applet works fine!

I don't think that we should include this in AutoPatcher. A lot of people will start dropping problems and installation issues about it at the forum. If we could make a manual that will be available at the moment you select this tool it's fine. We haven't the opportunity to make it. Do we?

Windows User State Migration Tool (USMT) version 2.6.1

Microsoft? Windows? User State Migration Tool (USMT) version 2.6.1 migrates user files and settings during deployments of Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP. USMT 2.6.1 provides enterprise migration capabilities such as unattended migration, multi-user profile support and compression. USMT 2.6.1 is intended for administrators who are performing automated deployments.

USMT 2.6.1 includes two command-line tools named Scanstate and Loadstate. Scanstate captures an intermediate store with the user files and settings from the source computer. Loadstate restores these files and settings to the destination computer.

USMT 2.6.1 also has five default migration rule (.inf) files named Migapp.inf, Migsys.inf, Miguser.inf, Sysfiles.inf, and ArchiveApp.inf. You can alter the default .inf files and you can create customized .inf files. Depending on what you want to migrate, you can specify all or none of the default .inf files on the command line.

The entire migration process is driven by the .inf rules, which you can modify, and logic that is built-in to the tool. When using USMT for automated migration, in almost all cases you should modify the .inf files to better handle your unique situation.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP

Updated: November 1, 2005

PowerToys add fun and functionality to the Windows experience. What are they? PowerToys are additional programs that developers work on after a product has been released.

Note: We take great care to ensure that PowerToys work as they should, but they are not part of Windows and are not supported by Microsoft. For this reason, Microsoft Technical Support is unable to answer questions about PowerToys. PowerToys are for Windows XP only.

Windows XP Update Released - KB909441

Microsoft has released a new update for Windows XP Home and Professional editions. This update fixes a problem in control panel, "Sounds and Audio Devices" which does not correctly display the setting in the "Speaker Setup" list.

Symptoms: After an application calls the Microsoft DirectSound SetSpeakerConfig method and specifies either the DSSPEAKER_7POINT1_SURROUND value or the DSSPEAKER_7POINT1_WIDE value, Sounds and Audio Devices in Control Panel does not correctly display the setting in the Speaker Setup list.

If an application specifies the DSSPEAKER_7POINT1_SURROUND value, Sounds and Audio Devices should display the description 7.1 home theater speakers. Instead, Sounds and Audio Devices incorrectly displays the description 7.1 wide configuration speakers.

If an application specifies the DSSPEAKER_7POINT1_WIDE value, Sounds and Audio Devices should display the description 7.1 wide configuration speakers. Instead, Sounds and Audio Devices incorrectly displays the description 7.1 home theater speakers.

Cause: This problem occurs because the DSSPEAKER_7POINT1_SURROUND value and the DSSPEAKER_7POINT1_WIDE value are mapped incorrectly when Control Panel is initialized in Microsoft Windows XP.
