RaQ
Hello, I'm fourteen as some of you know, As I turn 15 and a half my parents are going to buy my a speed bike. I don't know if they're are many fellow neowinians that ride speedbikes, by that I mean Yamaha R1,Suzuki GSX-R600,ext.. What kind of speed bike should I get? What I want, Nice Sound!! Good Handling (Grip,Ext) Stylish Looks Comfortable for school to home rides.. What I don't want, When I start off or rum the gas up a tad bit to high it pops a mega wheelie. Bad Stablity! Remember I am a beginner I've ridden a Yamaha TT-R125 dirt bike so I am familiar with shifting, I've been told the shifting is basiclly the same on a speed bike. Questions Though, 1) When I start off @ a stoplight ext do I need to use a clutch or can I just twist the throttle. 2) If i'm up in 3rd gear then I come to a stop light is it nesscary to switch down to 1st gear then start off and have to go all the way back up to 3rd gear. Or can I start off in 3rd gear from a stopped position? Thanks So Much!!

When come to a stop, squeeze in the clutch and use the brake, then kick back down to 1st, you dont really donwshift an a bike as for what bike, i have no idea what is good these days thing about bikes are you always want more power, but not too much at first, i would get something in the lower mid range
MxRobbo
first off, how the hell are you gona get a street bike license when your not 18? thats not fair!!!!! i have to wait till august before i get mine, i had an xr80 since i was 7 years old, and the past 2 years ive ridden a 2000 honda cr125r and i'm gona be getting a 2003 CBR600f4i or maybe a 929, i'm undecided but thats what i would recommend as for stopping, yes if your at a stop light or you do stop at a stop sign be sure to go down to first gear, but if your moving and you kind of roll the stop sign put it in second like a car...and yes you do need to use the clutch, all street bikes pop wheelies, but if i were you i'd get a 600, dont go with the 929 or anything above 600cc's if you cant handle it well

RaQ
"you dont really donwshift an a bike" ?? I am going to attempt to get a waiver from the govenor, my dad knows him.. sorta. well through a friend :) so when coming to a stop light, I hold in the clutch, keep clicking down until I get to 1st. Then press the brake (front or rear? both??), Now do I let out the clutch or keep it held in the entire time? BTW: when I start off, is it just like a dirtbike? Hold in the clutch, give it a TINY TINY bit of gas (had it pop some wheelies, scared my friend, his dad didnt know he was giving me lessons :p), then let out the clutch SLOWLY right? I was considering a Yamaha R6..
MxRobbo
when at a light, hold the clutch if your gona stay in first gear which is what i recommend, if your going to take the time to put it in neutral go ahead, once its in neutral you can let out the clutch, but if your just a beginer i'd keep it in gear, cause you dont want to think your in neutral and let the clutch out and stall the bike in the middle of alot of people. Ask the people at the bike shop what sort of bike you should get since you dont have that much experience, you dont seem to know alot about them so i'd just let them do the thinking
RaQ
Ever heard of coleman powers sports? Thats where I plan to get it at. ok, so yea i understand "rolling" on the dirtbike i glided slowly past my friend johnny, in 3rd gear, (came down from 5th) then i started off as i was rolling, didnt pop a wheelie. ok will ask people, am I right, i have the money, to get like full leather thing? boots, gloves, neck cover, good helment, ext..? is that all really nesscary? I only wear a helment on my 4 wheeler, 82cc :pP, but i guess thats a bit.. well totally diffrent. When u say keep it in gear, so I hold the clutch in and keep it in, as the car in front of me goes I just give it some gas and let out the clutch slowly? it won't do anything freaky like stall if i do it right. what i mean is, it's alright for me to keep the clutch in the entire time then while the clutch is still in, just breaked, i keep it held in, then I goahead and give it some gas and let it out slowly. it will work just as if i had never came to a stop and held in the clutch the entire time. right?
