TwiztedCam
I've already experienced this at Wendy's a couple of days ago. The person who took my order spoke with an Indian accent, and guess what, only white people worked in the restaurant.

It would be definitely financially feasible to outsource it to another country if they did that.
shrike
much of Australia is being oursourced by Google to India. Many people go to www.google.com, and expect to be transferred to google.com.au. Instead, we go to google.co.in :|

That auto-transfer feature is the most annoying feature of Google, as I alwasys get directed to Chinese Google, just because I live in Hong Kong. I have no idea how to read them.

EzeWong
Hmm, I kinda agree with Huezo, McDonalds must have done some prospective research on this. Apparently they feel that not having the actual customer service represenative taking the order is necessary, I disagree with McDonalds decesion on so many levels. I could not care less about wages and corporate outsourcing. But for Practicality's sake, what if the order is so complex and customized, it would need to commmunicated from person to person? I could just see so many possible issues arising from this. Sometimes when they take your order, they can't hear you. So they ask you to come up to the window, OR they may come outside. If they outsourced the order takng, it would be incredibly confusing and the medium of communication is overcomplex. Saving $2 an hour for the order taking is an absurd cost cutting decesion. Also, when people take orders they can be doing something, and they usually are helping with the orders. If they outsource them, then the people working the phones are inefficent and are just sitting down waiting for calls. So many problems with their decesion... JiveMasterT
i wonder if mcdonalds around me do that... i have noticed that the people giving me my food's accent is significantly different than the people who take my order. its really a good idea, cause the people who give me my food sometimes barely understand english, let alone english through a set of headphones. im all for it as long as i get what i ordered, promptly. HeavyTwenty
Basic economics... When you raise the cost of producing a good, the business will either raise the price of their good or cut-back their expenses. Raising the price of their goods would make them unable to compete against other businesses, so they choose the alternative and shaft their employees. Fortunately, the US government hasn't been mucking with the economy as much as European countries have; our unemployment is only 5.4% compared to Germany's 12.1% or France's 9.9%. nukenorman
The Whole United States is gonna be outsourced soon!! USA is goin down the drain anyways cant wait to get out of here. NEXT WHEN YOU BUY FOOD IT WILL SAY GROWN OR FOR MEAT RAISED IN CHINA!!! :D You said German and France have higher unemployment rate. Yes that may be true but they get paid more than americans do. Sure USA might have less unemployment rate but with low pay jobs with no health insurance. But i guess for americans standards thats good The European Union is the biggest Economy in the world not the USA. It's not the evil McDonald corperation, its the owner of the franchise  585461677[/snapback] I don't know about McDonald's US but in Canada the Corporation bought back the franchises. I thought that I heard that they had done the same thing in the US. I don't see how this outsourcing would work with franchises. Guys, if you don't like this, complain to your local McDonald's "and" hit them were it hurts by voting with your wallet. Consumers have a lot of power. Slavery in the Caribbean was brought to an end by house wives in England boycotting sugar. It seems as though most of you have forgotten that the companies work for "you". They are working to earn your dollars.
