Scizzot
When I try to install HL2 I get an error message: Error 1335: The cabinet file 'hl23.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. THis could indicate a network error, an error reading the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package. I am installing from the DVD-ROM version, and have installed it before. I just formatted my comp and tried to install it again and am getting this message. I really don't know what to do, or how to fix it. Any Ideas?? chavo
Sounds like you scratched your DVD. Try gently cleaning it and popping it back in.

Steffan
after diging thru some support sites, it looks like you didn't want to install CS:S http://support2.vugames.com/hl2/answer.aspx?ID=7152 basically you have to install source and then delete the local content of source via steam. http://support2.vugames.com/hl2/answer.aspx?ID=7149
Scizzot
The problem with that solution is that I can't get anyhting to install in the first place. It errors out before it gets that far. Thanks for the suggestion though. How did you get a replacement cd sent to you youm0nt?
Steffan
disc replacement info should be in the manual, usually towards the last page
