My New 2005 Mustang

Recommended Posts

Nice buy dude. Welcome to the club! I bought the GT in October. I love the car. I don't know how the person in the first thread thinks the mustangs are chick cars....Dude....come on. American Muscle is every bit manly as it can be feminine.

Thanks for the compliments. As I understand it, the horsepower is slightly underrated on the V6.

To answer some of your questions, I will be paying $1350 on insurance, every 6 months, just for the 2005 V6 Mustang (about $225 a month). That?s with Progressive Insurance.

Here?re a few more pics:

I don't want to seem condescending but ain't' you a bit young for such a car?

If you were my kid there's no ways i'd buy you a car like that.

If you were 23 yrs old or older then it would be ok.

I bought the car on my own volition, with my own money, and without a cosigner -- I think I have every right to buy the car I like. I'm not your average 19 year-old.

v6, 210 Hp, its all inefficient.? My Subaru gets 227hp out of a 2 litre flat 4.

585601416

your also turbo charged ya dork put a turbo on the stnag and he will be pushing 300hp, and your turbo is making less power then a s2000 2.0 i4, who is ineffecent now?

and who says a kid has to have his parents to pay inoreder to get a mustang? I could have bought one myself but i wanted something smaller and bought an escort because i wanted to save on gass and insurance.

and i only had a dishwashers pay ($7/hr)

Not much hp for a V6 4 litre, my 2 litre Honda Civic Type R has 197hp and thats standard.

585602200

and your civic is designed for racing the stang isnt, give the mustang about 11:1 compression and a race tune and see how it does, he already has 100ft-lbs more then you. And your 2.0 only has 2 more hp then a 99 integra 1.8, WOW HUGE IMPROVEMENT!

IM GETTING ****ED THAT PEOPLE KEEP COMPAIRING THE BASE MODLE STANG TO MORE RACE AIMED CARS. IT JUST MAKES YOU LOOK STUPID.

Yeah, at 8000 RPMs  Not to mention, large displacement engines aren't always about horsepower, they're about torque, which your Civic lacks.

the mustang has always had a low end option, hell when Shelby first was given the idea to make the cobra line up he said "thats a secrataries car".

obviously the only people here that are getting down about it being a v6 dont know much about the cars hirstory. I hate peope that bitch but dont know what they are talking about.

585601351

It's not about the history. It's about the SPIRIT of the car. It's always been a muscle car. the SPIRIT of muscle cars has always been in the big block (even though small blocks can sometimes perform just as well).

And I do agree aswell, a 4 litre engine only getting 210 hp@5250 rpm and 240lb-ft @ 3500... come on, that's a little pathetic for a 4 litre. Assuming ford didn't cheap out on building the engine, it should be pushing 300hp and 400lb-ft at least.

Yeah but 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 secs and top speed of 147mph is not bad for a 2 litre engine, just shows what can be done.

that may be (i know it's true), but that is a highly modified engine to GET it that fast, I know what I'm talking about, the v6 in the stang is just shoved in there, they didn't have to mess with it to perform, now say the same prefomance mods were made to the stang, it would blow yer car out of the F'n water.

yeah, and the Mini Cooper S runs better than that on a 1.6. Oh, and F1 cars used to run 1.3L engines.

The point isn't output/liter, it's what you're doing with it. V6 Mustangs are cruiser cars, they're very much a soccer mom ride, despite what the GT owners might say. IMO, a V6 convertible is a sweet car and stays true to it's roots. The problem, if you want to point one out, is that this new V6 engine of Fords appears to be quite weak, and it looks like 200 odd horsepower is all it will ever put out.

147mph isnt impressive. I can top 140 in a stock escort w/ 143hp and 140tq

585602841

Are you going by what the speedometer tell you ?, if do then in the Civic Type R the clock is reporting 160 when in fact you are doing 147, remeber all speedometers are slightly wrong and more so as the speed increases.

My ex Escort RS Turbo (1.6 litre 200hp) couldn't do anywhere near 147 so I doubt your escort can, even an Escort Cosworth standard only has a top speed of 144 mph

ive pegged 150 on my speedo a few times, and others do it w/ it basic bolt-ons(definatlely less then 200crank hp). a speed should not be off my 13mph at that speed my car is only off by about 4 (speedo said 140 and the radar post on the side of the road said 136

Top speed is entirely unimportant. Most any car could do 150 mph with the right gearing, assuming it isn't a box on wheels.

Speedometer reading errors are correct though, they're usually off by 10-15% after 100mph. But, if all you're doing is some "top speed'' run on the highway, you can say whatever BS number you want ;)

I only go by manufacuturer figures no what people say they reach (unless provable with more than a pic of the speedo)

Anyway my oringinal point was, American don't use their engines to their full potential.

real men drive chevys. and before you ask, i drive a 94 z28 camaro, 5.7 liters of power mmmm :)

585602862

No, rednecks drive Chevys...what sports car do they have now? That's right..the Corvette. Great car, but the Camaros were overpriced crap. They had dinky fiberglass bodies and were fugly. I was never impressed with those monstrosities. (Yeah, the 80s and early 90s Mustangs were ugly, but 94 on we're golden). Oh yeah, why can't you buy a Camaro anymore? That's because the Mustang outsold the Camaro and Firebird COMBINED.

Congratulations man and welcome to the Mustang Family. I have had my 99GT Vert since I graduated from College. Ordered it and wiatied for it and i have loved every minute with her and so will you.

Ignore all the haters they are just jealous that they couldn't do at 19 what you did. I love when i pull up to light and some punk in a Hondastarts revving at crazy because he believes the big wing and empty boost gages and turbo / NOS stickers mean something to me then i smoke them so bad it looks like they are in reverse!!!

Much respect for s2000(and a slew of other Japanese cars but these people with the ghey imports are the only cars rule attitde are so F*ing ignorant) but these little punks that have them can't drive them and those real car men that do realize that their cars are track cars and not going to beat a muscle car from a stoplight. I have toasted boxters and TT's like nothing. people who don't know about cars are always running their mouths. Then they go back to driving their old and busted crap their moms bought them. These are the same people that belive the Intergra Hype R was a better car too but every car magazine proved otherwise, even the import bible import tuner. And for the people that doubt a 6 Banger Stang can't be made into a true race machine, you need to find out about the Kenny Brown Club Racer. A 6 banger modifed by Kenny Brown and beating 911's in club racing. AS for the F bodies, well those days are long gone and the Mustang has no Nemesis anymore. The first and last of the Pony cars. Enjoy them while you can.

I actually can't wait to get my '05 GT but i can't decide if i want another Yellow GT or a Black one with a red interior. will order it next month and post pics etc when i get it. Also can't decide if i want the Hard Top this go round or not. We get a kick ass discount through work and get the car at the x-plan rate which is dealer cost + 1.4%.

Standard/stock? I've never heard of a stock civic doing 6.6 for 0-60.

Do you have a link?
