[BT BB] Something weird

Question

+forster

Well I found it weird anyway - recently reflashed our ADSL modem/router and couldnt remember our password, so rang BT to try and get it.

They couldnt help, however, we were told that if you have a BT enabled line, your username can actually be anything you want. Also, a working password for anyone on a BT enabled line can simply be set to 'bt' and it'll allow you to connect.

Example:

user: firstname.secondname@btbroadband.com

pass: bt

Weird

Doesnt seem very secure to me, thankfully we've got a proper hardware and software firewalls so I think we're safe.

I think it will only work with your phone number, so no one else will be able to connect to it.

Indeed, you only need the e-mail/password if you have a BT Yahoo account (for authentication purposes) - as they provide e-mail.

BT Broadband doesn't provide e-mail.

Radish?
