Question

i'm so sick of these threads poping up every single week. so here's the one and only thread you should need untill the end of your life. moderator can modify poll entries to update.

in my experience, none of the above actually downloaded any faster than ie. my 1.5 mbit cable line fills up pretty fast (192 kbytes/s) when i actually download anything. if i'm just browsing it probably doesn't reach those speeds, but i don't care, pages load fast enough at ~100k.

oh regular downloads yes, it doesn't matter.

but if you are downloading some popular file and that site is hella slow, FlashGet and GetRight, will automaticly search for more mirrors of that file, allowing you to reach your maximum speed. as far as i know no other download manager does that.

and let's not forget ability to resume stopped downloads. puter crash, inet connectop dropped, whatever, these download managers can save you time and that server bandwidth.

has anyone tried stardownloader?? i got it free on a MaximumPC magazine cd, and i must say it's sweet ass, i didn't check to see if anyone else suggested it, but it's pretty cool/simple if anyone is interested
