[gentoo] ALSA Compile errors?

Hey,

I'm working on installing Gentoo right now (2.4.26 kernel, I believe), and I've got it up and running fairly decently (I can login, etc.)

However, when I log in, I try to "emerge -k xorg-x11 kde", and about halfway through ALSA's building, it gives me a compile error (something about a reference to a non-member, "dev", I could re-run it and tell you exactly what it says if need be).

I've tried all sorts of things, from using "-K" to no params at all, I've tried "emerge system" just to make sure I'm up to date (it always errors out on "shadow", though, because the file is missing from the ftp server).

I'm out of ideas, I've been working with it for a few days not, and have had no luck.
