Me to XP


Question

If I install the upgrade version XP Pro on Win Me and then later decide to format and start over on the same PC can I do a full install off the upgrade disk of would I need a full install disk. or can you do a full install off of an upgrade disk instaed of buying the full version.

You can install Microsoft Windows XP using the Microsoft Windows XP CD on a formatted drive, provided you have the full Microsoft Windows ME CD. Just pop in the Microsoft Windows XP CD and everytime it asks for the previous compatible Microsoft Windows CD, just take out the Microsoft Windows XP CD and pop in the Microsoft Windows ME CD, do that everytime it asks you and change back. That is what I had heard, if anyone else thinks this is worng, post it.

Yes, you can do a clean install from an upgrade disc. During installation it will ask you to insert a valid full prior version of Windows then it will "verify" it. Then it will contiue as normal.

Don't listen to deathlace, he seems to have been drinking too much today ;)

Yeah, that is what you do, I have done it a few times, works great :)
