How do select tabs using my mouses scroller? Hold down the right mouse button and use the scroll-wheel until the document you want to view is selected, then release the right mouse button. how do i change the background from default white ( when loading ) to black? megamanXplosion
Opera 8 is much better :) The interface has been made massively-more user-friendly... There are now close buttons on the tabs instead of the little 'x' at the far right of the interface (you can switch back to the advanced tabbing interface if you want). The menus have been rearranged and made dynamic so there is less bloat on the interface for those who like a simple browsers. Mail, chat, and RSS menus are only displayed if you have made accounts for mail/chat or clicked on an RSS button on a page. The navigation menu has been removed, it's pointless to have because everything in there can be accessed elsewhere like the right-click menu or on the main toolbar. Closed pages and popups can be easily retrieved by using the "trash can" on the page-bar so you can easily open a popup which might've been blocked or reopen a document you accidentally closed. The delete private data dialog has been massively simplified, an "Advanced" button was added if you want more control over the deletion of private data. "Save with Images" is no longer a seperate menu item and can be accessed in the Save Dialog itself. Notifications of downloads completing, new emails, new RSS entries, etc. slide into view near the system tray. There is now an option to disable the ability for sites to hide the address bar, never again will the disappearing address-bar be a problem. When setting up a gmail account in M2, the server details are automatically filled out for you. Inline error pages are used instead of error dialogs, which means that sites which have problems loading in the background no longer switch focus to the nonfunctional page and require you to click "OK" and then switch back to the page you were viewing. If there is an error loading the page then it will remain in the background and will not require your input, the tab will say "Error" so you do not need to look at the page to find out that it's broken. This is one of my favorite changes regarding the interface, the dialogs were VERY annoying. Preferences dialog has been changes a LOT; I'm not sure wether or not I like it, it doesn't seem like a step forward or background, it's just different. New "Appearance" dialog has been added which allows you to place buttons on the interface, modify toolbars, modify panels, and change the skin (which is now instantaneous instead of having to click apply all the time.) This is another of my favorite changes, the ability to cycle through skins and see them instantly applied is very nice, only takes a few seconds to find a skin which fits my current mood. When viewing a page which has RSS or ATOM (support was added for Atom, that is new) newsfeeds, an "RSS" icon will appear in the address-bar, clicking on it will automatically subscribe you to the news feed. The rendering engine has improved in a lot of ways as well... "Fit to Window" option has been added for those sites which force you to scroll left and right, clicking on this option will modify the page so that it fits inside the window. "Small Screen" option is pretty much the same except that more of the original page's styling is kept. Added CSS3 Voice support and XHTML+Voice support (now designers can create pages which are read back to the user, and they won't sound like a robot anymore considering the great control designers have and the higher quality voice libraries supplied with beta 3.) XMLHTTPRequest support has been added, so the Gmail site will finally work. Transparent backgrounds on plugins (such as flash animations) has been added. Better recognition of WAP (handheld) pages, which (I think) automatically switches Opera to small-screen mode for you so you can experience the site the way it was meant to be experienced. There have been two security fixes in Beta 3... http://secunia.com/advisories/12713/ -- fixed. Closed padlock icon plus the name on the SSL certificate in a yellow box now appears inside the address bar for secure sites. Did I give enough reasons for why this release is 100x better than 7.54? If not, then I can continue to give reasons because there's a lot of changes I didn't mention :)

megamanXplosion
one last thing..SKINS.. i've got a really nice dark blue set - can i use it? 585753002[/snapback] Tell me the skin name and I will take a look. If the skin is compatible with Opera 8, you will likely want to download the newer version because skins aren't as easy to automatically upgrade (it would require Opera having artificial intelligence, the ability to create skins itself, and have an artistic flare, way too much to ask from a simple application hehe.) megamanXplosion
The Neo skin is compatible, I'm downloading it now :) It isn't recommended to install a beta version over another version of Opera, though many do overwrite their previous installations and have no problems. You should be able to copy your profile from a previous release into the new one without any problems, though I would backup your beta-install directory before doing so. To "import" your settings, keep reading. The first step is to close and backup your 8.0 directory, in-case something goes wrong you will want to have a backup around to easily repair the installation. The second step is to copy all of the files inside your 7.54 profile directory and paste them into the 8.0 profile directory (overwriting the supplied files.) To find your profile directory, go to Help -> About Opera. Open 7.54 and find it's profile directory then copy all of files in the 7.54 profile directory, then open 8.0 and find it's profile directory and then paste the files from 7.54's profile to the 8.0 profile directory. This should apply your toolbar/mouse/keyboard settings and skins to the new version. Open 8.0 and see if everything works as expected, if it doesn't then restore the installation with the backup you made.
