I have heard that there is going to be a SP1 for Corp versions with Corp serials so if you have the Corp version it should be easier.....now hands up who doesn't have a Corp version?? OK thought so! ;)

Someone called 'bennyboyamo' says he has the FULL (117mb) and an Express installer (1.7mb). So if anyone here can host it go off and let him know. go go go. :)

So volume license keys are keys that can be activated/used for more than one system as opposed to the standard keys that come with XP Home/Pro?

Yes and no. It will only (officialy) work on Professional versions and they have to be special Volume Licence versions to accept the keys. Then they can input the same key on the number of systems they paid for without having to activate each one indevidually. :)

VLK is for Enterprise use since they purchase bulk licenses for the OS. The keys are only for those versions of Windows.

That's not hard to get. Better would be the SP1 intergrated iso install.

Look on the front page and there is a link. And I qoute it for you.

Workaround to install SP1 on corp XP!!

Requirements:

IF you installed WinXP corp edition

and by accident used the Volume License Key: FCK....

and some stranger emailed you XP sp1 Beta

and you want to install the XP sp1 beta

and you have your own correct VLK

Follow these instructions:

0. Run a system resore to create a new checkpoint in case you need it.

1. Run regedit and go to: HKey_Local_MachineSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsNTCurrent VersionWPAEvents, on the right double click on "oobetimer" and change at least one digit of this value to deactivate windows.

2. Choose run from start menu and type in this command: %systemroot%system32oobemsoobe.exe /a to get the activation screen and go to the second option which is activate by phone.

3. In the new screen choose the option to change product key, and type in the new product key (your Corporate one only).

3a. If it brings you back to the prior screen after entering the new key click remind me later and then reboot.

4. Close that window, reboot your system and enter the command in step 2 for the second time to verify your activation , you should see "windows is already activated".

4.1 Now install SP1

5. If you have done this wrong or without a valid key you will not be able to boot. hit F8 and select last known good configuration

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

edit: this gonna be removed but, go to your local computer store find a machine running Pro copy the PID and boom

Guys, SP1 will refuse to install on leaked-key windows XP systems and simultaniously disable Windows Update because you tried to cheat off of Microsoft! Double trouble for those guys who will try it!

So summing up:

If you try to install SP1 on a Windows XP (warezed key) it will:

1. Refuse to run and install

2. Disable Windows Update as a penalty for thinking you can beat Microsoft

I'm sure in a few days after the SP1 release there will be some kind of a workarround for both of these :cheeky:

Kind Regards to the neowinians out there, and good luck to those you 'are no better than they should be' :p
