ChopSuey
umm, how.. surprizing. but i can't wait to see if Longhorn will be cracked.. sorry, how long it will take windows longhorn to be cracked 585776510 Longhorn will probably have a different form of activation, so it will probably take some time to crack. By the way, it looks like the crack has already made it's way to the newsgroups. I have not tried the crack personally since I am still using the 32-bit Windows XP (in my opinion, there is not enough support for 64 bit drivers and applications). I will probably make the switch at the end of the year. Cheers!
NienorGT
If you don't care, why post? This is interesting and certainly important news so there's no need to flaunt your idiocy here. The very least you can do is show some respect for the poster. 585776495 So...You aprove to announce all cracks on Neowin you? I don't, that's why I don't care of this topic...
Help
I am sorry for not being more clear, this is not what I am implying. I am aware of the keygens. One I know of for the VLK (Corp) edition is the 'bluelist.' This did not work 100% and could be liked to an educated brute force method. There may be more recent keygens that I am not aware of. Sometimes keygens will mascarade as such, but contain a hard-coded list of valid keys, it can be hard to tell sometimes. Anyways, I digress. What I was meaning was actually tricking the operating system into believing it was activated has not been achieved (again to the best of my knowledge), but rather the operating system was made to believe it did not need to activate for a long, long time, essentially forever, or in the case of this x64 crack, thinking it does not need to activate. This is different from the VLK (Corp) keys in that the operating system is pre-activated. 585773467 There is... at least for Windows XP... it's called MSKey4in1 http://board.iexbeta.com/index.php?showtop...14entry492714 There is a proper keygen called MSKey4in1 that supposedly generates a key using the actual algorithm without bruteforcing, and works without a hard-coded list. I remember because it was reported as a Neowin exclusive review before is was generally available and then the article was pulled. 585774434 I wish I can see the article... Anyways, MSKey4in1 does actually generate keys from the algorithm itself, but there is 2 problems with it.... A. The algorithm doesn't work properly with windows 2003 (can't change the 'significant number' of the private key) and it doesn't work for Win XP x64. B. If Microsoft chooses too they can block all (if not all) of the illegal keys used to activate windows XP (at least for a while), because most, if not all of the keygen created keys always have the PID checksum number of '23' so it looks like this... 55274-XXX-XXXXXXX-23XXX (Note: 55274 is for XP pro VLK, it varies for different versions of win XP) (70% who read this and have a pirated version of Win Xp pro installed will check their PID) Microsoft can easily block all win Xp PIDs that has the checksum value of '23'. Sure it'll cause some legit customers to be locked out of their computer, but they could send them new keys after proof of purchase is shown. The only problem is that using the checksum value of '23' (or any 2-digit number), you can produce 10 BILLION KEYS!!! so there could be a lot of legit users affected if MS does do this, and even if they do, it doesn't guarentee that it will stop piracy.. they will eventually be able to crack it again with a different checksum value. So it's not worth the trouble for MS and that's why they are not doing anything to stop piracy of windows XP. Simply because they can't....at least for now. oddcrap
A new version of a Windows XP x64 activation crack was posted on the Internet today. According to the creator of the crack, the crack bypasses activation through calls to a separate DLL file that is installed onto the PC. Different sources on the Internet claim that the activation crack works (even advancing the clock 20 years would still yield an activated Windows XP x64 that runs without any problems). Due to Neowin's rules, I will not post any links to any of the sources where the crack may be obtained. This is just an informational piece only to show that the Windows XP x64 activation could be bypassed. 585773302 Old news, any software will continue to get cracked.. as long as there is human beings left on this planet. Cyrilix
So...You aprove to announce all cracks on Neowin you? I don't, that's why I don't care of this topic... 585777058 I apologize for sounding harsh. It just seemed to me that you were wilfully humiliating the poster for news that wasn't ridiculous and I took offense to that, but I'm sure there could've been nothing wrong with saying it nicely. After all, there were no links posted, just an announcement.
Japlabot
get a job and pay for it? 585775218 Please guide me oh godly one to a store where I may purchase such an existance of Windows XP x64? I have had here in front of me a coin bag of cash that has been set aside for purchase of this product for the last 3 months and I can't wait to use it. Jotnar
Well...you could actually wait until the product has been released :) Or, if you truly have a pile of money lying around, get the MSDN Operating Systems subscription. Its only around $600 or so and you can get x64 Windows now. Cheers

Hankyone
they should put starforce 4 on windows :geek: so it will take maybe an houre to start-up then you will have email theyre support if you install any drivers and dont even think about installing a software :p anyway, who did not expected that, microsoft have nothing to lose since people that use pirated windows will never buy it

virtualmadden
Well, it's ify wether or not they'd loose money. If the person who pirates it, is only using it because it's illegal, then Microsoft isn't loosing anything. Only if the person who pirated, uses it because they need to (i.e. software, etc.) than is it illegal. But it's such a grey area, I say support those that work hard. Keito
Some of the pre-alpha versions of longhorn have already been cracked. 585787028 If they're all using the WPA stuff it can be done quite easily right now, because they have figured out how to do that... I have followed someof the developments of the crack for the x64 edition even though I'm not running x64 windows. And there are several ways to do it... this one just does what has been done on 32bit systems a long time ago, it took a bit longer because there aren't that many programs for editting etc. that can do 64bit apps ;)
