Huge Opera video card issue while playing WMVs

Recommended Posts

Since I've installed my Geforce 6600GT and WMP 10 sometimes when I have Opera 8 open and theres, I think it's gifs that mess it up, or maybe it's flashes, I haven't been able to pinpoint it, but when it messes up my system it does very weird things, like make my screen go fully black, to hard locking ym entire system :/. Any ideas of what this might be? I'm using 71.84 dets, Opera 8(final) flash player 7. My thought is that it might be that new silly feature Nvidia teamed up with MS to put into WMP 10 somehow causes conflict with some kinda video thingy in Opera, but I don't really know, it's very bizzare, because if I'm not experiencing the above whilst watching a movie and browsing in opera then i get extreme slow down in all apps while WMP 10 and Opera 8 are running, but only when Opera 8 is showing an animated .GIF, I think thats when it is anyway, it's hard to figure this one out.

I did search this and I couldn't find anything, but maybe I worded it wrong when I searched? If so sorry.

Start turning things off in Opera like animated gifs etc. and see what happens.

I've pinpointed it, and the problem is FLASH in Opera, how does Opera process flash differently? Whats it's problem? This doesn't happen with any other browser! Even with plug-ins disabled the problem remains. What happens is the screen goes to an insanely low resolution like 320xwhatever and all the windows get skewed, it looks like theres some bizzare overlay conflict happening, it's recoverable from anyway when you close Opera, *sigh* I gave it a chance I really did, but I have to admit FireFox has never done anything like this even way back in the days when it was called Pheonix.

A fresh install of video card, flash player and Opera did it, VERY strange bug though.

I have never had much use for Flash so I always delete the file.

I have also found Opera to be (still years later) to fussy with sites and with this version downright dismal with graphics processing, but it's fun to tinker with.
