sorry for another off-topic but i notice that Opera cant handle auto copying text the way Firefox and IE does, for example when I click an xdcc link on ircspy.com it opens my default irc client and goes into the server and all but when i click paste in the message box it does nothing (its not copying the text!)

How can I fix this?

wow this k-Melon is quite interesting

FAST like you said and most importantly its light, the lightest and highly customizable

The only bad thing about K-Meleon is that it needs to be heavily customized before it's usable (at least for me) and even then, there is still a lack of features and complexity and the sense of a well 'developed' product. (eg. It has it's own hosts file, which is good if your computer is infected with some malware that changes the HOSTS file, but otherwise, it's more of a problem.)

If Mozilla decides to really develop this product, I think that it'd be very popular among the windows community. And it might even threaten Firefox.

I recently switched from FF back to IE after using FF for months because FF was generally being a POS on my computer. Just switched to Opera and it's so damn fast.

Version 8.0

Build 7561

Platform Win32

System Windows XP

Seems to be using 50MB of memory with only one page open though?

Opera has way too many problems. It renders so many sites incorrectly.

Haha, and you think FF is perfect? Give me a break, it's not even close either. :x

I keep firefox handy on a usb key.  portable firefox works for me,

but opera is my main browser.

Same here, I hate using firefox but I use it to avoid using IE in college. I use the USB version, if only opera would work correctly from the drive

No, and here's why:

1. Opera dosn't support quicksearches, or I couldn't find it. I constantly use the wikipedia quicksearch, and using the "I'm feeling lucky" search to my advantage. IMDB movietitle takes me to that page.

2. Find as you type. I'm used to hitting / to do searches.

Heh. Both of these were invented by Opera weren't they? Opera had the search field first, and Opera was the first web browser with inline find (find as you type in Mozilla).

Whats problem? Opera can be portable! You can use Opera on removable devices like USB-flash drives without problem. Do you want to know how make Opera portable?

Well I tried out the free key that I got on here and it doesn't work :s.. Got to switch back to firefox.

The free key from the magazine doesn't work with opera 8 final. Have a look on the community section of opera, there giving away Free Keys and Support to users who referral 250 people, thats how i got mine :)

Opera has a very advanced memory management system. You can change the amount of reserved memory it uses and you shouldn't notice a difference.

To do this, open Tools | Preferences | Advanced, then select History and change Memory Cache to either Automatic or a lower memory amount. I'd recommend a memory amount of 10MB for a default value.

:lamp: Tip: Changing the memory amount from Automatic to a low value can increase speed on older computers.

I've got my opera exactly how i want it. I just recently discovered mouse gestures. And extra buttons such as "open in ie" (for pages that need ie).

Opera is an awesome browser, It is made for everyone. Give it a fair go and you wont turn back.

still using firefox. opera 8 won't let me open links in a new tab with middle button. and just little things like the tab's being too tall, the tab toolbar being above the address bar (don't think you can change this?). doesn't have things like gmail notifer and adblock etc. plus i don't notice it being any faster.

Um, if you click in the mouse wheel (assume it is your middle button). It does open a link in a new window, but as a background page (which is nifty if u want a page to load while your reading something else.

Also, Wand kicks ass and mouse gestures might change your mind. Hold down right mouse button and move to the left to go back, to the right to go forward. down-right to close window. Its all really good

Opera has made my lazy habits even lazier. Thankyou Opera, I dont have to move the mouse pointer all the way to the top right to close the window. :p
