Firefox not loading anything

Recommended Posts

So I boot up my computer today and I open firefox and nothing happens...I try a couple more times, nothing. I reboot, still same result. I uninstall and reinstall Mozilla Firefox twice, same result. Reboot again, same result. I haven't changed any of the settings or anything. It open the program, and it gets to what is shown in the screenshot that I attached. None of the buttons at the top (File, Edit, View, etc) work at all. Right clicking in the blank white window will get me the normal right clicking selections, but that doesn't help me much. And right clicking at the top gives the menu shown in the screenshot, which also doesn't seem to useful.

At first I thought it was maybe the internet or my connection or something, but then I tried opening up an HTML file on my own computer and that didnt work. The weird thing is that it always loads the title of the page correctly, just nothing else. I then tried opening just a .txt file because I thought maybe the problem was with HTML files, but same result.

I don't know what the problem is and I'm sorry to say that I'm posting this thread from Internet Explorer :x

Hopefully it's a simple stupid problem that I just don't know the fix for.

i was just poking around about about to create a new profile and all but then i found the short cut for Firefox "Safe Mode" and I tried that and it worked fine. then, while the Firefox "Safe Mode" was open, i opened the regular firefox and that worked fine. but if i close safe mode and then try to open a regular firefox, it still doesnt work...

so what's the difference with safe mode? is there any reason that i shouldnt always use safe mode?

Safemode disables extensions and themes. So if Firefox works in safemode, disable all extensions from extensions manager, close Firefox, open it in 'normal' mode and start enabling extensions until you find which one is causing the problem

if you are using a nightly built of april 22nd till today, most extentions and many other things wont work at all

Just stick with 21st built like many ppl decided to do

I had the EXACT same problem. Turns out if you had the User Agent Switcher and updated to the new one, you'll get this problem. All you have to do is go into safe mode, uninstall the UA Switcher, then reinstall it again. Should work fine then.
